motor mounting

I have no idea how to search the white papers, so I am posting in hopes that someone may know if there are any white papers on motor mounts?

Or, if you would like to share how your team mounts motors please do. Thanks in advance!

We mount the drill motors and gearboxes in their green cases. The green housings are then mounted to the chassis with 6-32 threaded rod using the holes in the housings. We mount chiaphuas using their mounting holes which I believe are 10-24 and put screws through a vertical 1/4 inch thick or so vertical aluminum piece or angle. I've seen some teams attatch motors with hose clamps but I'm unsure of the rigidity of this method.

Motor mounting isn't really difficult. Give it a try.

A good mount for the Bosch Motors with the transmission is in the Technocats shifting white paper (from a while ago, and in the newest one also) Battlebots also mount the transmission by making a mount that the tranny slides into and bolting into the clutch holes. I think the team that makes these is TeamDelta

We mounted all motors this year on the faceplate of the motor

We mount our drills with large U-bolts. The drills are left in the green plastic casing, and then we put the u-bolts over the open side and attach them to wood or a metal plate on the other side. We do the same thing with the Chiaphuas. It works well, and we've done it on at least 5 different robots with no problems.

Motor Mounting...

If u go to the TechnoKats Website; then go under "Resources" you'll see PDF and DOC files for the 2 different mounts (they are both pretty similar) we made for the drill motors/fisher price motors....

:D

i don't believe there is, and as for mounting the bosch drill motors, we find that the green casings work very well if you cut a lot of them away to increase the air flow onto the motor itself, they get very hot sometimes

thats a good idea. i know that our team sometimes needs to give the drill motors a break because they are too hot. we never thought of cutting away the case for better air flow

Actually, we have, but probably not to the extent that Nataku suggested.
