I was cruising on fastweb.com and found this in my inbox

The Duck Brand Duct Tape Stuck on Prom Contest is available to students age 14 years or older who are attending a high school prom in the spring of 2002. You must be a U.S. citizen, including the District of Columbia, but excluding Puerto Rico. You must enter as a couple (two Individuals) and attend a high school prom wearing complete attire or accessories made from duct tape. Each couple must submit a color photograph of the two of you together in prom attire. The awards for this contest range from honorable mention prizes of Duck Tape sportswear to a first place prize of a $2,500 scholarship for each member of the winning couple and a $2,500 cash prize to the school that hosts the prom.
a renewed version is expected out soon

My friend Keri made a pocket book made entirely of duct tape...
And, I do know a few people who considered doing this, but they didn't, only becuase they decided to not go to the Prom...

If I can get a girl to do that and go with me, I plan on doing it. I don't care if I make a fool of myself. My school kinda expects it from me :) I don't think I know of a girl that would go to the prom with me even _without_ a duct tape dress...Hmm...maybe I can lure them in with $2500 towards college :)

Ahh yes...and I have a bookbag made out of duct tape. (Well...covered in duct tape...) I stole the idea but it looks original since I'm the only one in my school to do it :P I planned on cutting out the actual bookbag fabric but never got around to it. I may still do it...I have 2 weeks. Heh...duct tape rules ;) weedie knows... Sean's pants...Luke's wife beater... :P

I would say something about Asher, but I don't think it's my place...

:D

Muah. I'll use Tartran (or whatever the KMart brand is) just to spite Duck brand :)

Jeff Rodriguez 13-08-2002 15:03

i was gonna do it, but my girlfriend was like 'No way in hell!'

Rob Ribaudo 13-08-2002 15:08

Sounds like an interesting idea to wear a duct tape suit.
Maybe next year when I make and wear a vest made out of duct tape to collect buttons on. I wonder how well it would hold up though?

evulish 13-08-2002 15:18

Mehh...why are girls so picky? What's wrong with wrapping your body in rolls of duct tape then going to the biggest formal event of their lives so far and humiliating themselves? I don't get it. :)

Duct-tape ANYTHING is incredibly hot. I don't know how I'll be able to stand that much duct tape for an evening. Heh...if I do it...I have plans to make a large duct-tape top hat :) and possibly an incredibly flimsy cane :D

I know a girl who did this for prom and two who wore duct tape dresses for graduation. They said it was really hot and uncomfortable, but I've seen pictures online of some really cool looking dresses & tuxes.

And yes, I admit that I would have never worn duct tape to either of my proms even if I were guaranteed that amount of money. Just thought you would need a female perspective.

.....weedie's duct tape shoes! hmm.. what else?

Let me think, since the public school system hates me... if we aren't at Nats during prom.... and the so-called-other-half-of-me doesn't care.... and I could somehow find away to put myself in duct tape.... I may be weird enough to take on the challenge... I'd let you keep the money.

it only says that the picture has to show you in the prom attire. it doesn't say you have to take the picture *at* the prom. you know how alot of people take pix at home, before they leave? well...just change your clothes! :)
i would do it.

Jon K. 13-08-2002 18:41

actually if you look at the pics they are all profesionally done so you could always go to wal mart or some place with a photo studio and then change

Melissa Nute 13-08-2002 19:02

If someone is willing to do this with me for my prom this year I would so do this...hehe...I can find someone I'm sure...hehe

Anyone care to join me, eh?

i thought about doing it but i got side tracked by some little robotics thing ;) but i do have a duck tape wallet. many of you have seen it already. you can see this thread about my ducktape wallet. and my most recently updated pics of my wallet below this text. i had to change the skin on it. it was turning black and gritty.
