I love your app! But is there one for iphones? About a third of our team uses iphones and that would be a huge help. Also, the app would be nice if all of it would show up on the page, at least horizontally. Would it be possible for you to make it so we can modify it for our team's specific needs?

Hello there. I'm not OP, but I am on STORM Robotics as well. Unfortunately, we are not on iOS due to the recurring developers fees that come with being an Apple developer. Android only requires a one time low fee for putting apps on the Play Store. We have a set of android tablets that the team scouters use, so it works out for us.

Perhaps in the future we will invest in iOS to broaden our user base.

Very well put!
It'd be very nice to broaden our horizons with iOS development, but like you said it's pricey and it'd most likely exceed the nearly non-existent budget that we at software have.
It would be quite interesting though, as many people in the world are iOS users as opposed to Android users.

If our team was to create our own app, where would we start? And that's a nice idea to use tablets, our phones are small and all. We will probably use your app to scout this year!

Actually, the tides turned a while back: http://www.idc.com/prodserv/smartpho...rket-share.jsp

To the OP, our team is thinking about using your app, but we were wondering if a few changes could be made (possibly)?
  • Phone support (screen size < 7 inches)
  • A qualitative scale for crossing the defenses (each defense could have a scale of three answers: really good, OK, not great)

We love the idea!

I feel pretentious for that making me happy, but it makes me happy.

As for this, I work with the OP on Scouting and we'll have to see what we can do to help with that.
A fair amount of testing for screen size is being done, as we have been sacrificing my phone during meetings (a Galaxy S5) to see if it works on smaller screens.

Hello. Sorry for the delay. To start making your own app, you should be proficient in the java programming language. Then, you want to go to developers.android.com and view their documentation and programming exercises. Lastly, you want to look at youtube videos on android development. These are the steps I took to becoming a proficient android developer

Also as an update, we will be releasing a new update to the app soon. This one will have better phone layouts and a graphical representation of data. Once it is live, I will post an update.

With the competition days away, the team was wondering if there was a way to export this into excel? Thanks!

Sorry about the delayed response to your post. The master app kicks the data out to a csv file you can bring into excel.

Hello,

Team 5179 would be happy to use your app for this year's competition. However, I see no iOS version exists. I've got an apple dev license, so I can at least try to port to iOS and get it approved for inclusion in app store. Can I have access somehow to the source code in order to port it?

Thanks,
Alexandre Croteau

Team 291 used your app at our first competition with much success! It was very easy for all of our Scouters to use and they loved it. Also, there were many teams that became very interested in our new scouting system. Glad we could use the app on our Samsung tablets!

Where would I find the Excel CSV in the phone/tablet's memory storage? What path should I be looking for?

Also, there appears to be a minor labeling bug on one of your summary pages, where there's a heading of "high goal" and the data is labeled # of shots in low goal. It's obvious what is intended, but you definitely should fix that.

This is great to hear! We are very glad you liked it and hope that you continue to use it. Don't forget to mention us if someone asks where the app is from :p Thanks for supporting Storm!

The CSV file should be on the highest level of the file explorer, being in the directory with all the folders in the file explorer(i.e. Downloads and Pictures). If the file does not appear, then reboot the device. We noticed that if the file does not appear, the device has to be restarted. As for the labeling issue, we realized at our last competition the issue with the high goal data being labeled low goal in the individual cells. We seem to have an issue with generating a suitable play store app file right now but are able to generate a general app file to use for install. We are currently at work to try and create a endpoint for teams to download this updated file without the play store.
