free webhosting for graphics
 

does anyone know of any good webhostings that won't yell at you for linking a graphic onto a message board? i currently use boomspeed, but they have been sending emails to everyone, saying that thier accounts will be deleted in one week, what does everyone here use for thier sig?

Most ISPs give subscribers some webspace of their own, but that really depends on who your ISP is. PacBell gives out 20MB per account, which is more than enough for a few graphics.

If you have anything other than dialup, with a static IP (or even not, if you use something like http://www.dyndns.org), you can run your own server, and host your own graphics, if you wanted to.

If you have signed up for Homestead before they made it so that you have to pay for it, you can use that. That is how I have my signature set up. If you don't have it then you could send me your graphic and I could put it in my account and I will host it from there for you. I have never had any problems with homestead hosting pictures. I will give you the URL of your graphic and then you can put it in your signature. If you want to do that, e-mail the graphic at me at robertribaudo@aol.com.

I use http://pics.paulsonator.com/ and it seems to work pretty well...although it does have a limit that is rather "small"..:D

Check that out. Free webhosting. It's basically just a *nix server running telnetd, httpd, and ftpd AFAIK. I use it a bit...have yet to finish uploading my 500 mb robotics image archive :P

hey brandon, i have an idea. set up small accounts on here so everyone can host thier sig, it would work if you make it just for one small graphic

I use pics? @ paulsonator.com too. Small, but large enough for a collection of neat images. The software on the site seems to be messed up right now, but it's really good anyway...

Ok, I have the host and I have the pic there. Now, how do I get it to show up in my sig?

Hmm... instead of making everyone an account, how about another section of the Gallery for sig images?

I don't know how vBulletin works with image galleries, but I'll bet they could be limited in resolution or size.

Keep in mind that I don't have any experience using vBulletin (or any other message board system), so I don't know how much effort it would take to be implemented, so it's just a conceptual suggestion.

I wrote the image gallery, and integrated it with vBulletin....it doesn't come with vBulletin.

I was thinking of having somewhere to host images [2-3 per user] or something, with some sort of limit on size. This requires space though, which would require me (or the team) to buy some more webspace. Its not too expensive, so if there is enough need for it, I may end up doing it. Not sure yet.
