Bumper subforum

With so many questions about bumpers, should CD dedicate a specific subforum to them? There is so much interpretation of something that from an inspectors point of view is absolutely black and white. There is really no grey area in the rules.

I agree with Gary's comments here."Too Many Bumper Rule Threads"

Taking a year off from bumpers created a knowledge gap.

I have not seen Al's inspection thread yet, but I am sure it will clarify the rules.

A possible solution would be that bumpers be included in the KOP and you need to design your robot to fit them. :ahh: :ahh: :ahh:

I like the idea of a bumpers subforum with stickies answering FAQs about bumpers each year and pertinent changes year-to-year. Although much of the problem with people posting threads about bumpers constantly is that they don't read as thoroughly as they should anyway.

Defined bumpers to fit your robot doesn't sound fun though.

Make it hap'n cap'n.

This is a great idea.

Re: Bumper subforum

Yeah, there have been a lot of posts about bumpers, but it's mostly been of two varieties: I didn't read the rules enough to know what to do, or I read the rules, but having 8" of bumpers affects my design so I'm trying to find a way around that by interpreting them differently.

I don't think either of those will be fixed by stickies or a subforum - people will still not read the stickies, or want to post their own interpretation instead of reading other threads or searching. Putting it in a subforum just makes it easier for people annoyed with those types of questions to ignore them.

Even with the current sub forums, many users post everything and anything in the general forum. Having a bumper sub forum that I can ignore sounds great. Educating everyone to properly use sub forums is a different story.
