The warranty applies to hand tools only. Somtimes they like to hassle you. Don't let them... ;)

Once my dad found two pieces of Craftsman pliers on the road... brought it in, brought a new pair out! Craftsman is very cool, totally worth the somewhat higher prices.

Really is it possible to buy a lifetime warrenty???? I remeber my parents talking about one for a rotary tool for my uncle.

It's Fluke 77's for me both here at work and at home. Several in the team tool box as well. They never lie, (well you do have to ask the question correctly.) They can tell you things that are important like what is the forward drop of a diode junction in volts and they have a quasi analog meter to help when doing setup that reguire you to make adjustments towards a certain level. But they are not cheap. A wise man once told me (my dad!) if you have to buy a tool once, make it a good one. Chances are you will use it the rest of your life and come to depend on it. The only one I ever saw broken was run over.

I got a nice fluke for less then 100 moneyz. It is automatic, and it is rated to likke 600volts. it does voltage (ac and dc) continuity, diode testing, and resistance.

The lifetime warrenty applies to hand tools only... We have a special bin for all the replaced handtools in the back of the store in the main stock area

Aren't craftsman tools supposed to last forever too?

You work at Sears and you have to ask that question??? Oh boy.....

Buy your meter wherever you want but just don't buy major appliances at Sears. ok? If you need it fixed it will be Joe Schmoe responding to your call and not a "Sears certified technician" like they claim!

Can you tell I like Sears???

Personally if it costs more than say a penny, don't buy it at Sears!
Can you say Junk???
