Maker Education Position at Southern Methodist University
Hey All,
Many of you know that I used to run the on campus Makerspace at SMU (called the Deason Innovation Gym) before I went to work on REV fulltime. I was recently contact to let know that they are expanding their staff so they can do more cool stuff with students on campus, and I was asked to help recruit some folks out of our community that might be interested. It is a very cool place to work, with flexible hours, good people, good pay, and a ton of fun. Here is the official job description and link on where to apply. "We are looking for someone to join the Deason Innovation Gym team to help envision, operate and maintain a state-of-the-art makerspace that serves hundreds of students each year with the tools, mentoring and programing to make, tinker, prototype and hack. Want to work where you can help people make a foosball table, vinyl stickers, quadcopters, holiday ornaments and innovative solutions to complex human problems? This is the job for you. You must be proficient with tools common in a makerspaces (3Dprinters, laser cutters, vinyl cutters, power tools, electronics [microcontrollers like Arduino and Raspberry Pi, as well as sensors, amplification, LEDs, etc.], coding, etc.), both in using them for engineering applications as well as keeping them running smoothly. You must be an educator at heart who loves working with college-age students to help them develop their maker, problem-solving and engineering skills.
