2056 just won chairmans. The blue banner streak is still continuing at least!

What Wildcards were given out? I feel like there should be quite a few, but they're not listed on TBA.

None. All the teams in the finals had already earned a CMP bid (5912 was rookie All-Star).

Huh. I was told by a ton of different people that Wild Cards now fell past the finalist alliance if there were enough Wild Cards starting this year, but I just looked it up and you're correct. That's unfortunate that those slots got wasted, and some of the awesome teams that would have qualified aren't.

Yeah I kinda cringe sometimes when wildcard slots are wasted. I hope FIRST adjusts those rules to maybe hand them down to the highest semi-finalist alliance captain on the highest seed maybe if there are excess? Just an idea, but I'd like the rule change. I mean it doesn't happen often, but when it does it makes me cringe a bit.

Congratulations to team 610 and their alliance partners for a great win. Well deserved by one of my favourite FRC teams. Mr. Lim great job with your unconventional strategy. I didn't get to see the match but it sounds like it paid off. You were right on the money! I look forward to the opportunity to learn more about great strategy from you guys.

What does this mean for Simbotics. They didn't win either regional they went to and it seems like they didn't win a blue banner that would provide them a trip to the championship event. Does this mean they won't be attending the competition at St. Louis or did they win a wildcard spot?

1114 is a Hall of Fame team and is therefore permanently eligible for the Championship.

1114 doesn't have to win regionals to go to champs. They are a HOF team now.

Additionally they would have earned a wildcard at GTRE from 118 winning champs last year (skip over 1241 winning EI), or at Waterloo from 124 from their 2xEI, RCA, and RW so far this season(!!!!!).

Part of FIRST's plan to push for an area to go to districts?

I completely agree however. How we could implement it fairly I'm unsure of (for example, who gets the second semi-finalist wildcard, the other alliance captain or the first pick of the higher seeded alliance?), but there should be a way to ensure that each regional send as many deserving teams as it can to championship.

Congrats to 1241, 610, and 3560 on an incredible run through the tournament. You executed your strategy incredibly well, and the blue banners are more than deserved.

2056 set a record that will be never broken. Congratulations on a decade of pure excellence. Good luck at Windsor next week!
