The antennas are currently above the perimeter, by a bit, and they are not going to be as they are on the robot currently. We will get them underneath the regulations and everything with the actual, but those were plexiglass rods duct taped on......

We are not currently doing low bar, but we are looking into ways to do it post week one competition (Northern Lights)

Is your bot planning to go under the low bar? Those "antennas" (lack of a better word) might stick out beyond the 15 inches of the frame perimeter when they're bending to go under the low bar.

It appears that they're going outside 15" going over the defenses as well.

Good Luck at Northern Lights. I guess we can check this out in person across the black curtain.
6-8 cycles is pretty good.:)

Okay, I was just curious. Great robot by the way!

About 10ft out to the edge of the courtyard, as long as we are positioned correctly.

Straight shot from anywhere (in the courtyard).

We're going for the straight shot from the outerworks, where we can't be hit. We are worried about being blocked by a tall defender, but I'm confident if we move quickly, we can get a shot off before a defender can position. If we can't get the shot off, we can shoot low from a pretty wide area.

Great looking robot. I fear your arm may be subject to a lot of punishment when you are shooting though.

We used HOT/Ether's ballistics spreadsheet in 2014 and found a really nice sweet spot for an arc given an exit velocity. Reality was pretty close to the simulation that year, so we used the spreadsheets again this year. For 2016 we need two different configurations (each of tilt/speed) to hit the entire range we want. The good news is that vision doesn't have to care about distance so much as left/right aim.

If you ever want to see a programmer's face go from stressed/contorted to totally relaxed in under a second then tell the programmer that the acceptable margin of error for range finding is +/- 10% (about 2 feet).

There's always the possibility of the magical, once-in-a-season shot from the low bar. If the cycles work out such that it's faster to pass the ball to a robot which stays in the courtyard then who knows - this may be the only place to shoot from.

I noticed that also.....Have to "watch your back."

Re: High goal shooters, where are you shooting from?

The 6-8 cycles are under ideal conditions with no defense played on us. We are hoping we can do between 5-7 week one, but we will have to wait and see. The strategy didn’t involve the low bar because we felt that the huge design constraint caused by the low bar wasn’t outweighed by the decreased cycle time for most FRC teams. We wanted to invest all our “robot points” into cycling instead of trying to do everything and being a master of none. The team is currently in the process of beefing up the active intake. Our goal is for it to continue to function after 1816 (*cough* Peter *cough*) rams into it at full speed. They are also working on an active mechanism for keeping the ball center in the shooter to help our release time once we line up our shot. Thanks for the suggestions, and we wish everyone luck.
