Spybox limitations and Bumber questions

Our first question is what are the limitations inside and between spybox and the alliance zone. Our question pertaining to bumbers is if we are allowed to raise the bumbers? and if we can change/cut the materials for bumpers?

and between spybox and the alliance zone.
No further restrictions.

There is no requirement that the bumpers remain in the same position in the bumper zone. However, the robot must be in compliance with the bumper rules at all times, and the bumpers may not be articulated.

you can change an cut materials all you want, as long as they meet the bumper rules.

Re: Spybox limitations and Bumber questions

Ok I need to clarify the questions. By limitations in the spybox, I meant whether or not the person in the spybox can communicate with their alliance members if the form of communication is not wireless/electronic...for example: a mirror or a 'cup and string' (yes..seriously). Also, we wanted to know if the person in the spybox can control the robot with a wired controller since no wireless signals are allowed. Next, by cutting the materials I meant if we are basically allowed to cut the sides/corners of the bumpers to have a smaller area, this way our robot can fit between the guard rails on the batter.

I am pretty sure there are rules regarding the size of your driver station. Last year it had to stay within the space above the table so I think the same will apply this year.

IE: you cannot have a wire connecting your spy's controller to the laptop.

No. The Human Player CANNOT contact a robot in the field. It would also violate the 15 inch rule for the robot.

The rules prevent physical and electronic communications between the Spy Box and Castle. "Physical" being any device that has any part physically outside of the Spy Box or Castle. Note: Visible light is not considered physical nor electroinc.

American Sign Language is fine. So is Morse code with a flashlight, signal flags, etc.

You can only use a flashlight if it's unpowered. There is a specific Q&A about this, and it had a humorous response. Yet for some reason searching the Q&A for 'mutton','flashlight','spy', or 'power' doesn't seem to find it...
