Modeling path of spinning boulder

Has anyone been able to accurately model the trajectory of a spinning boulder? We have tried, but the math/physics involved is going completely over my head so we haven't made much progress.

469 tried this in 2012 and didn't get anywhere with it. The main student on it is now at MIT.

Tldr it's not worth it. Build your shooter and gather empirical data. You can try to find a trend line from that, but IMO it's better just to pick a few spots to shoot from on the field and have those predefined setpoints for shooter speed/angle/whatever other variables you can control.

This paper describes the physics, the math, and the computer simulation algorithm.
