Team 1533 Robot Teaser

After a great deal of designing and difficult decision making, and lots of hard work, our students are ready to show you what they have. https://youtu.be/-bItWi9Jc0w Still have some work to do with ones and zeros but we are well underway. We will be competing in the North Carolina District. Good luck to all and above all have lots of hard fun!

I honestly don't know how to respond to this.

Re: Team 1533 Robot Teaser

Genius! This is probably the best drivetrain I've seen all year. It's simple, but lets you do everything without sacrificing a compact swerve drive.

Nice! How much does that weigh?

This is the most unique drive train I've seen this year.

This is the most unique drive train I've seen this year.

The base with both drives, all the controls and the Dart lift weighs in at 81 lbs. The Stinger and arms all the way down to the pivot weigh 29 pounds.

What and how many motors are you using for the swerve and the rhino tank drive trains?

10 motors total. 4 AndyMark gearmotors to steer swerve, 4 cims to drive swerve and 2 mini cims to drive tank treads.

Forget just this year, I don't think I've ever seen something quite like this. This is the weird precipice between insane and innovative.

Re: Team 1533 Robot Teaser

Hm. It seems we may need to add the ability to select more than one drivetrain on our pit scouting program. Although, I'm not sure how often that will be necessary.

Wow! I thought it was a joke video then I was amazed! That is impressive. And you get to name a new drivetrain type: Swank Drive!

Omg!!!! That is amazing. We had to decide between that and kit bot, we went kitbot. But actually though that is so sick.

Umm this is by far the most unique drive train I have ever seen. I LOVE IT! Another thing I really like about it, show the outside the box thinking out this team and I can not wait to see it in the game.

As my reaction as a whole, this is how I reacted :O . Wish I had thought of this whenever I was a student.

Hmmm. I had this exact idea, couldn't do it because of limitted sponsorship, but I'm glad to see someone do it!

I like the drivetrain alot. Just a thought? How much battery do you pull throughout a 2:30 min span with all the motors?

No hard data yet but not anticipating any more than the Recycle Rush bot moving and lifting. Its the same Swerve config and the only time the tank treads run is when activated to run over raised obstacles.

Ok. Was just wondering out of curiosity.

Found that we can conserve a lot if we curtail the celebratory spins after taking down a defense.

There is a lot of awesome in that drive train. It looks like it can operate with a couple of motors down too. How easy is it to repair the tracks and swerve modules during competitions?

I cannot wait to see this robot play in the NC districts!

Tracks are completely open to bottom and back and pulleys drop out. Track motors/gears are on the back top. Swerve is modular, pull 4 frame bolts and they separate out. You can find the swerve details here: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...highlight=1533

I can reassure you that the video is not a joke. Here is the real ScorpiuS...

However, I cannot confirm or deny whether or not his older brother is coming to the competitions...
