I wish it were so. No, I'm just curious about how long it will take to start seeing teams with multi-ball autos.

It'd be hard to legally do, since you can't break the plane of the midline during auto. But anything is possible.... :)

I hear we may have a team with a bad OM5P-AN radio coming to Mount Olive.
I just ordered 2 spares to cover that from Amazon.

Anyone else coming to Mount Olive going to be walking in already in need of 'spare parts'?

The replacement radio has been received and tested during our remaining robot access period time.

Today we also received one as a spare or for use on our practice robot.

Just pray you don't have to play with them. ;)

We spend 2/3rds of our Robot Access Period playing with ours and let me tell you that wasn't fun poking around in our electronics with our 13" tall bot.

If we only had a spare at that time to swap in to verify the issue...

Sounds like my idea of fun:
I mean I now bought 3 of these out of my own pocket.
Merely accepting whatever issue FIRST engineering incurred I am now potentially exposed to.

If this is my idea of fun: imagine what my idea if trouble is ;)

I used to buy a lot out of my own pockets too, but this year I asked for our team leaders credit card number since I do most of the purchasing for the team. I just mainly donate 3D printed parts now. That's a little bit better on my wallet.

The funny thing is that he ordered the replacement radio last Saturday during our first un-bag session after we realized it might be the radio. He asked if he should do 2nd day shipping. After a little discussion we said no especially since AM might have a few days lead time to ship.

Luckily I contacted Open Mesh on the 1st about the bad radio and today I have a brand new one in my hands. I just need to send the bad one in. Talk about great customer service!

Those were some great matches out there today. we saw a lot of great robots, and team 5624 is glad to have been part of the alliance that set the high score at 140 points (even though i think that will be broken in playoffs).

Here is 1676's full-field match footage of Saturday's Qualification matches https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...JjWTkBn920n6Jy. I'll post an update tomorrow night with videos of all of Sunday's Qualification and Elimination matches, along with (hopefully) Alliance Selections and the Awards Ceremony.

Congratulations to 1257, 5624 and 1676 on the win!

Just wanted to bump this thread to say a gigantic
THANK YOU
To FRC 11 & 193 for being such wonderful hosts.
We always love playing at their event, but this year they absolutely went beyond the call of duty as hosts and as gracious professionals.

I don't want this to be too sappy or sob-story-ish but I felt I needed to offer a public thank you, times a million-billion-zillion, to all of the folks who offered us support.

For those who took the other entrance into the school & didn't see it, my car caught on fire on the road between our team's hotel & the school. (Everyone is safe and unharmed - material things are replaceable, people are not. We're very lucky that the problem was noticed before the car turned into a fireball, and that we had the gas station on the corner to pull into so we weren't a hazard to the buses & cars coming up the road for the event.)

Not only did the police, fire & EMS folks who responded have connections to the team (some alumni and kids-of-volunteers), but volunteers, judges and even some team cars stopped along the way to make sure we were alright. Another thank-you to the car of judges who stopped - I didn't catch their names... and went to the event, grabbed my mother and drove her to the scene, without being asked. Handling that for us helped our other mentors & chaperones not have to manage swapping out cars AND getting our busload of kids settled amidst the panicky morning.

The first thing 11/193's parents, mentors, and kids did when we came in was make sure make sure our kids were comfortable, we had everything ready to go for competition, and that we didn't lose anything event-critical for the team. They helped us print paperwork that we needed, offered to drive to a store for laptops, chargers, clothes for those in the car (so we didn't smell like smoke & rubber all day) and even set us up a 'quiet room' so we could decompress if need be... believe me, I used the heck out of that room in the morning.

You guys are always a class act, but this just went so above and beyond.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

P.S.:
Thanks to our partners, 11 and 3142 - great working with you as always! & thank you to 1228 (LabView experts) for working with us to try to get 3142 an autonomous mode. It was awesome of you to help out. :)

The community 11 is a part of is its biggest asset. The team's roots run incredibly deep. Everyone up in Waterbury was also glad you guys were all safe.

Funny story - even 228's third alliance partner this weekend, 3719, is mentored by a MORT alum. We're everywhere :ahh:

Happy you are all safe, these freak accidents can be incredibly scary so I hope none of you are shook up too badly. A few days off for a sanity check are definitely in order.

"Ghaaa!" doesn't even begin to cover it.

Now that everyone is OK, you KNOW you're going to win at any "a funny thing happened on the way to competition" story contests, hands down...

(I can't imagine the thoughts going through one's head upon hearing "hey, your car's on fire!" Gotta be surreal.)

Re: 2016 MAR(FMA?) Mt. Olive Discussion

Finally got a chance to catch up on some much-needed sleep.

What a weekend it was. We started off Saturday by breaking one of our transmissions in our first match (I'm not the guy to ask about it, but it sounds like a 43-tooth somehow got worn down), causing us to not move in our next match and work on our robot through the following one. Thanks so much to MORT for helping us get some replacement parts. We made it back on the field just in time for our fourth match - in which our intake fell off. Needless to say, between all of that and some other mechanical issues, our spirits weren't too high.

Thanks so much to 1257 and 5624 for having faith in us and picking us for your alliance. We've gotten a lot of compliments about our defense in the eliminations, but it truly was a team effort, and we won it together. Can't wait to see you both again at Bridgewater-Raritan in a few weeks.

Huge congrats to 5624, 303, and 1923 on well-deserved Judges, EI, and Chairman's Awards. It was great to see all of our friends again, and we wish everyone the best of luck in the weeks to come. And Libby and 1923, we are so glad that everyone is okay after your retelling of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" on Sunday morning.

1676's full-field footage of all of the Qualification and Elimination Matches, as well as the Alliance Selection and Awards Ceremony, has been posted on our YouTube Channel here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...JjWTkBn920n6Jy. We hope you enjoy, and apologies for the view being partially blocked by our team standing up in certain elimination matches...we were, well, excited :).

P.S. MORT, very few things beat the feeling of looking in awe at the field with your awesome lighting and "Gold on the Ceiling" playing over the speakers. Thank you for putting on a great event year after year.
