Make that 4 in 4. You forgot Saturday. (For which I believe I'm obligated to call in 10 lashes with any of last year's noodles on you--it's been less than 2 days.)

Ventura 2016 gets added to 973's list.

I didn't think we were including this year, but thanks.

My Illinois Top 5 (if you now included 2016)
1. 2481 (4 regional wins, 1 regional finalist, and a 2014 Einstein appearance)
2. 2338 (1 regional win, 2 regional finalists, and a 2015 Einstein appearance)
3(tie). 2451 (3 regional wins, 1 regional finalist, and Curie finalist)
3(tie). 1756 (1 regional win, 4 regional finalist, and Newton finalist)
5. 1625 (2 regional wins, 1 regional finalist, and a 2014 Einstein appearance)
*Bonus*
6. 4143 (1 regional win, 2 regional finalist, and a rookie Archimedes finalist)

My picks for the SC top 5 are:

1. 4451
2. 3490
3. 343
4. 1319
5. T 4073 - 283*

*283 haven't been around for longer than two years, but they are consistently performing well.
*4073 only does one regional event however they have a Palmetto win from last season and were an alliance captain this season.

I wouldn't put 4901 in the top 5 even considering our 2014 ORL win because we haven't performed well outside of that one event.

2996, Cougars Gone Wired
1619, Up-A-Creek
4499, the Highlanders

I was going to respond to this for Colorado, but 100% agree with what you said way back in February, save for one thing... I think 1339 should be on that list as well, after watching the regional this weekend.

159 has a very interesting cycle of progressively getting better, doing really well, doing not so well, and then repeating that. I think the biggest thing we could do better is transfer knowledge from outgoing seniors to the younger team members before the end of the season. I know that's something my senior class was guilty of not doing, and it definitely hurt the team the following year.

Agreed. 1339 has done a good job of building effective robots over the last few years, and they deserve a spot on that list.

1339 was one of the best teams that we have had the pleasure of working with at Colorado. They have always delivered a fantastic robot and that has become evident this year. They definitely deserve to be on the top 5 for Colorado.

I was counting 2012 to 2015 seasons, during which 971 had 4 regional wins / 1 finalist and 973 had 3 regional wins / 3 finalists. I'm not sure how I came up with 2 wins for 973. Counting is hard...

About 973 over 971 or vice versa: I sorted mainly based on stats because otherwise I'd be even more skewed towards teams I've seen more, and teams that did better in 2014/2015. Both are really, really good and the list could definitely go either way. CA has a lot of great teams, which always makes these lists fun but difficult.

1. 2052: 2052 has been a local powerhouse for the last four years, and always finds a way to win. Just look at what they have done over the last 4 years, and I’m sure you will see why they are number 1 on my list.
2. 2175: 2175 has built a top 3 robot in MN for 3 out of the last 4 years, and even with a down year in 2015, still finished as a top 10 robot in MN.
3. 1816: They’re what every local powerhouse team should be; they build very solid robots, but what makes 1816 stand out is there dedication for inspiring kids.
4. 2512: Another team that always seems to build high quality robots year and year out. I can’t wait to see what you guys built this year.
5. 4536: Being such a young team makes them even more impressive. They seem to understand the little things it takes to win better than any other team in MN. I have been very impressed with this team over the last couple of years.

My new list after the 2016 season:
1: 2052
2: 3130
3: 2502
4: 2175
5: 2512
(5172's rookie year was in 2014 so i'm not including them)

Re: Top 5 teams for your state over the last 4 years

Team 254 - This is an obvious choice because their level success on the field and their scale of support off the field is very hard to come by. Needless to say, we would not be close to as successful at champs if it weren't for the Cheesy Poofs.

Team 971 - Another amazingly successful team with an astonishing record of helping other teams. We needed special custom parts, and being a first year team, we simply did not have the tools to make it ourselves, nor did we have the money to have it done professionally. Spartan Robotics came to the rescue by not only helping us make the parts in their workshop, but also teaching us how to work these extremely helpful tools and giving us insight as to what to purchase for our shop in future years.

Team 1678 - The Citrus Circuits also constructed a beautiful and well-made robot. You don't make it to Einstein on accident. Apart from that, they played a vital role in our first year as a team. Mentors talked to us about how to expand our shop on a budget, and even came down from Davis (close to a two hour drive one way!) to discuss logistics and ways to raise money for the trip to Champs. We are more than grateful for their support this season and we look forward to working with them in the future.

Team 1868 - Another wonderful team that is great at what they do. The Space Cookies have most definitely made a name for themselves in the FRC community and have been a huge help to our team. As soon our the team began, they gave us the chance to come to their space (no pun intended) and give us a little overview on how FRC works. They also have been one of the kindest and most generous teams to us and many other teams they have worked with. It's a pleasure to have such a strong partnership between our two teams.

There are many more teams that deserve to be on this list, but those are my top four choices.

+1.

Also, if we are talking about teams with with great track records both on the field and off, I have to add Team 1868 - The Space Cookies. They have won 3 Regional Chairman's awards in the past 4 years, and are one of the most helpful and gracious teams I have met. Very willing to help us out with whatever we needed this season, including putting on a workshop for us and lending supplies. This team has a Championship Chairman's Award in their future!

Since South Carolina has played its only official event of 2016 featuring all but three teams (281, 1293, and 1319 are playing elsewhere), I'm defining four years as 2013-2016.

1) 4451, undisputed. Palmetto, Orlando, and Newton RAS in 2013, went back-to-back winning Palmetto in 2015 and 2016 (only three teams have), Palmetto EI in 2016, Palmetto WFFA in 2014, SCRIW in 2015, Orlando finalist in 2013 and 2015, and that's just the tip of the iceberg about those guys.
2) 343. They had a dry spell after a heap of silver from 2010-2012, but in 2014 they started being contenders again, winning SCRIW and parlaying that into winning the final Peachtree Regional and getting silver again in their subdivision at Championship. They just got silver again at Palmetto yesterday, and they should be a threat in Huntsville.
3) 1319. Won Georgia Southern Classic last year, six UL Industrial Safety awards in three years (they haven't played yet this year), and several other judged awards.

I'd say there are three teams that have a legitimate claim to the last two spots, but which two depends on the lens through which you view them:
* 3490. Two-time SCRIW champions (2013 and 2014), Palmetto 2014 finalists, regularly in the conversation.
* 4073. Palmetto 2015 winner, 2016 quarterfinalist, two technical awards.
* 4901. Orlando 2014 winner (probably a higher-quality win than 4073's, given the game and the bracket), Palmetto 2016 Dean's List Finalist.

I agree with all these and I would add 1876 Beachbotics, they, like 343 had a bit of a rough year in 2013, but they have been in the playoffs and done reasonably well since, no wins, but often on our radar.

3490, with some help from a few unknown teams (16 and 118), also won the 2016 rocket city regional and 343 was a quarter-finalist there.
