My list for California (not a top 5, just all the teams that jump right to mind, and it's in numerical order, so only the #1 team is ranked):

254
330
399
846
971
973
1323
1538
1671
1678
1717 ( :'( )
3476

I'm sure I'm forgetting quite a few, but those are the teams that jump to mind.

135 and 5188 have really had some great performing robots since 2014

You can't put 135 or 5188 in front of 868.

Without counting us since I don't want to be biased:

1)60- Regardless of the fact that they haven't won a regional in the last four years, team 60 finds a way time and time again to make it very deep in eliminations and often into the finals. Whether they are having a good year or bad year, they always end up having a good showing.

2)3944- Since 2013, they are often underestimated in terms of how good their robot's are. In 2013 and 2015 they had solid robots and last year went all the way to Einstein.

3)4183- The rising wooden powerhouse got their first win last year but were always a strong robot in years prior.

4)2486- Coconuts all around make pretty solid robots. Usually it is little things here and there that hold them back from being as strong as the teams I listed ahead of them but changes from year to year.

5)1726- Usually fields a solid robot. By far the most consistent team that is always an eliminations contender.

1. 2052: 2052 has been a local powerhouse for the last four years, and always finds a way to win. Just look at what they have done over the last 4 years, and I’m sure you will see why they are number 1 on my list.
2. 2175: 2175 has built a top 3 robot in MN for 3 out of the last 4 years, and even with a down year in 2015, still finished as a top 10 robot in MN.
3. 1816: They’re what every local powerhouse team should be; they build very solid robots, but what makes 1816 stand out is there dedication for inspiring kids.
4. 2512: Another team that always seems to build high quality robots year and year out. I can’t wait to see what you guys built this year.
5. 4536: Being such a young team makes them even more impressive. They seem to understand the little things it takes to win better than any other team in MN. I have been very impressed with this team over the last couple of years.

Well, you just made my day. Are you confident you didn't mean 4539 though? In my mind, they have a better claim to the "best young team" title than us. Same for 5172.

For MN, my ranking would go something like this:
1. 2052* - 1 regional finalist, 4 regional wins, 3 division quarter-finals, state championships playoffs every year, 1 state championship finalist, 2 state championship wins
2. 2512 - 2 regional finalists, 2 regional wins, 1 division quarter-finals, 1 Einstein appearance, 1 IRI invite, 3 state championship playoffs, 1 Chairman's
3. 2175 - 2 regional wins, 2 state championship wins, 1 division quarter-finalist, 1 division finalist, 2 IRI invites, 1 IRI quarter-finalist
4. 1816 - 2 regional finalists, has attended every state championship, Championship WFFA winner, 2 EI, 3 Chairman's
5/6. 2502 - 1 regional finalist, 2 regional wins, 1 state championship playoffs, 1 state championship win, 1 division quarter-finalist, 1 IRI invite
5/6. 3130 - 1 regional finalist, 2 regional wins, 1 divisional semifinalist, 1 IRI invite, 1 state championship invite, 1 state championship win

2502 and 3130 both had extremely successful 2015 seasons. If either of them are even remotely as successful this season, they will move much higher on my list.

*Full disclosure: I am an alum of 2052

I'll attempt to do one for New England as a whole.
I may be neglecting some non-CT teams, as admittedly I'm not too familiar with some of those.

1. 195 - scary good every year, they belong right at the top
2. 1519 - a close second, with many event wins and nearly a CMP win in '13
3. 125 - robots always incredibly beautiful, and crank out wins each year
4. 2067 - probably biased here
5. 177 - rough last season, but previous years gets them a spot on this list

What is the deal with 1717? and the faces? That's twice now.

Oh. Glad it was not something bad but a choice of theirs. Great team glad I got to see them in Ventura last year.

Fixed it a bit.

I'm surprised that 2169 hasn't been mentioned yet for MN. 2169- 1 regional finalist, 3 regional winner, 2 regional chairmans, 1 regional EI, 1 division quarter finals, 1 division semi finals, 1 division finals, 1 MN state championship win, 1 MN state championship finalist.

Boe 28-02-2016 21:41

Re: Top 5 teams for your state over the last 4 years

As far as Minnesota goes its pretty outrageous that 2169 isn't being mentioned. If we are talking the last 4 years (rebound rumble - recycle rush), three division playoff appearances (qf, sf, f), 3 regional wins, 1 regional finalist, 1 state championship, 1 state finalist. Plus 2 chairmans on top of that.

My top 5 for MN would be:
2052
2169
2512
2175
2502

A really good sign for MN is how close things become after that with 3130, 5172, 4536, 4539, 4778, 3883, 1816, 3313 ect.

Let's just go with that I'm not sure the team would agree it was their choice, and leave it at that. There's a thread somewhere around with more information, from last summer or so.

I'd try to do a top 5, but there's just too many teams in CA.

In general I agree with most of the rankings for MN. I think there are a lot of young, up-and-coming teams both on the field, and off of it. Things are going to start getting pretty crazy in the playoffs, and in the Chairman's Award competition.

It's a fun time to be involved with robotics in MN as made evident by the number of active posters on this fantastic website.

That's why I went with 10 err 11 way to hard to choose all are awesome. OMG good.

Saw Holy Cows in practice, lets just say I'm glad we avoid them this year, so good. You're all in for a treat.
