Fixed it a bit.

I'm surprised that 2169 hasn't been mentioned yet for MN. 2169- 1 regional finalist, 3 regional winner, 2 regional chairmans, 1 regional EI, 1 division quarter finals, 1 division semi finals, 1 division finals, 1 MN state championship win, 1 MN state championship finalist.

I knew I was forgetting someone. Of course 2169 should be on the list.

In Tennessee, 3824 and 4296 are the top 2.

Both perform very well every year (3824 made it to the playoffs in Palmetto this weekend!), and HVA help us out so much (giving advice, extra parts, etc.) these last two years we've been a team. Who knows, maybe we'll rise to the top with them in a couple years :)

I don't keep up with many teams outside East TN, sadly. :(

Agreed, We cannot talk about Illinois without the Roboteers in the mix. I think we are seeing a bounce back from 111 as well.

There's no question that any list of the Arizona teams simply must include Carl Hayden HS (842). Their achievements are legendary and they haven't done too badly in regional competitions over the last 4 years either. They build very good robots.

Ventura is going to fun with both them and 973 attending this year :P

Yea. I'm glad we get to see in Central Valley (week 2) 254, 973, 1662,1678 and 1323 plus more ..its LOADED almost fell out of my seat when I made the Excel grid for week 2 OMG "lots of dark dark green" . Nothing but stars. Also 399,2102,2453, 2485, 3255 in SD week 1. Lots of great teams next two weeks. Looking forward to it. Love top-tier CA competitions. Brings the best out.Lots of fun. 3255 is looking very sharp (as usual) too in practice.

Re: Top 5 teams for your state over the last 4 years

Since we started in 2013, here are the teams that I would put on the tops in Minnesota. Please note that this is just an opinion. However, when I see these teams in an event we are involved in, I know we need to bring our 'A' game...

1. 1816 - All around the most complete and decorated team in Minnesota. No matter the event they are in, they are a team to beat.
2 (t). 2052 - 2013,2014 State Champ, 2015 State Finalist, 4 Regional Wins, 3 Regional Finalist,
2 (t). 2169 - Too many Banners to rattle off here - most CA's in Minnesota (5).
4 (t). 2175 - A team that loves to compete more than any other I have witnessed. 2 Regional Wins, 2 State Championships, 2013 Galileo Finalists (with 2169)
4 (t). 2512 - This team has been a force for a while and last season was their best. Champs Finalist, State Champs (2015), CA, Regional Winners, and the list goes on.

A strong 6th place goes to 3130 - in 2015 alone they were State Champs, Regional Winners (x2), EE, and WF.

This year will help to settle out many others - it is too early to truly make this list - it will be interesting to see following the 2016 season. I would also shine a light on 2177, 3313, 3276, 4539, 4536, 3883, 2883, 4778.

For MN, my ranking would go something like this:
1. 2052* - 1 regional finalist, 4 regional wins, 3 division quarter-finals, state championships playoffs every year, 1 state championship finalist, 2 state championship wins
2. 2512 - 2 regional finalists, 2 regional wins, 1 division quarter-finals, 1 Einstein appearance, 1 IRI invite, 3 state championship playoffs, 1 Chairman's
3. 2175 - 2 regional wins, 2 state championship wins, 1 division quarter-finalist, 1 division finalist, 2 IRI invites, 1 IRI quarter-finalist
4. 1816 - 2 regional finalists, has attended every state championship, Championship WFFA winner, 2 EI, 3 Chairman's
5/6. 2502 - 1 regional finalist, 2 regional wins, 1 state championship playoffs, 1 state championship win, 1 division quarter-finalist, 1 IRI invite
5/6. 3130 - 1 regional finalist, 2 regional wins, 1 divisional semifinalist, 1 IRI invite, 1 state championship invite, 1 state championship win

2502 and 3130 both had extremely successful 2015 seasons. If either of them are even remotely as successful this season, they will move much higher on my list.

*Full disclosure: I am an alum of 2052

Nope, I’m just a huge fan of your team.

Minnesota has an interesting dynamic in that there are so many teams that are neck and neck in terms of competitive level. A team that has stood out to me recently is 5172, The Greenbush Gators. For such a young team they are doing a lot of great things. This year is their first year competing in two regionals, and I cannot wait to see the caliber of performance they reach by the end of the season. Obviously not quite as decorated as some of the more household names in the lake state, but I think their spotlight is fast-approaching.

CRAP - I didn't mean to slight them at all! They were the 3rd ranked team at the 2014 State Champs and had an incredible robot. I agree, 5272 should be in the mix.

Re: Top 5 teams for your state over the last 4 years

So the question is about best teams not best robots in the last 4 years so my list for Florida:

1. 233 The Pink Team:
I know it may sound weird but just hear me out

Wins and Finalist Appearances:
2012 Orlando Regional Winner, 2012 Boston Regional Winner, 2012 Curie Division Winner, 2012 Einstein Finalist, 2013 Orlando Regional Finalist, 2015 Alamo Regional Finalist, 2015 Queen City Regional Winner, 2015 Carver Division Finalist.

Other Awards:
Between 2012 and 2015 they earned; 2 Excellence in Engineering Awards, 2 Imagery Awards, an Industrial Design Award, a Championship and Regional Team Spirit Award, had a Dean's List Finalist, 2 Woodie Flowers Finalist, and most importantly an Engineering Inspiration Award and a Chairman's Award.

4 Year Blue Banner Count:5 (7 Counting WFFA)

If we are judging based on the top 5 TEAMS not the top 5 robots then in the last 4 years 233 is number 1 in Florida no question, now after this year when 2012 is no longer a factor we will see.

2. 180 S.P.A.M.:

Yes 180 beat 233 on Einstein in 2012, yes in my ranking I consider a Regional Chairman's and Engineering Inspiration Award enough to just allow 233 to be considered the better team.

Wins and Finalist Appearances:
2012 Orlando Regional Finalist, 2012 South Florida Regional Winner, 2012 Galileo Division Winner, 2012 Championship Winner, 2013 South Florida Regional Winner, 2014 Orlando Regional Winner, and 2014 South Florida Regional Winner.

Other Awards:
Between 2012 and 2015 they have also earned, 2 Industrial Design Awards, 3 Gracious Professionalism Awards, a Judges Award and had a Dean's List Finalist.

4 Year Blue Banner Count: 6

180 is a Chairman's or Engineering Inspiration award away from being the best Florida team but until then, or when 2012 is no longer a factor and I redo these rankings, this is where they stand.

3. 1592 Bionic Tigers:

I feel Bionic Tigers are not as well known as they should be, due to a lack of an Einstein appearance in the teams history, however looking at the last 4 years they are clearly number 3.

Wins and Finalist Appearances:
2012 Orlando Regional Winner, 2012 South Florida Regional Winner, 2014 Orlando Regional Winner, and 2015 Buckeye Regional Winner

Other Awards:
Between 2012 and 2015 they have earned, an Innovation in Control Award, 2 Entrepreneurship Awards, an Industrial Safety Award, and had a Dean's List Finalist.

4 Year Blue Banner Count: 4

1592 also had their 2013 robot get destroyed in a car accident, and rebuilt it in a day, that was crazy to see in person.

4. 79 Krunch

This one may come as a surprise after a lackluster 2015 but once again we are looking at teams here.

Wins and Finalist Appearances:
2012 Orlando Regional Finalist, 2013 Orlando Regional Winner, 2013 Washington DC Regional Winner, 2014 Orlando Regional Finalist

Other Awards:
Between 2012 and 2015 they earned, an Entrepreneurship Award, an Industrial Design Award, a Team Spirit Award, had 2 Dean's List Finalists, an Engineering Inspiration Award, and a Chairman's Award

4 Year Blue Banner Count: 3

Krunch will hopefully be back to form this year and live up to my number 4 ranking here.

Now before I get on to number 5 I just want to say when I first read the thread title I had a completely different list of teams that immediately popped into my mind so not only was the list restructured after I really thought about it but in fact both 79 and my number 5 bumped off my own team so without further ado:

4. 1902 Exploding Bacon:
This is where Team vs Robot really came into play as the last 4 years 1902 may not have produced the most competitive robots of their history but as a team they have been exceptionally well rounded and always came to play

Wins and Finalist Appearances:
2013 South Florida Regional Winner

Other Awards:
A Championship and 2 Regional Imagery Awards, a Creativity Award, 2 Dean's List Finalists, but what sets them apart are 2 Engineering Inspiration Awards, and 2 Chairman's Awards.

4 Year Blue Banner Count: 3

1902 looks to be back in to dual threat mode this year with Battering Ham, and I know they haven't let up on the out reach end making them my number 5 team.

Honorable mentions:

744 Shark Attack (3x Regional Finalist, 2x Regional Winner, 1x Division Finalist and a Woodie Flowers Finalist)
179 The Children of the Swamp (1x Regional Finalist, 2x Regional Winner and a Woodie Flowers Finalist)
2383 Ninjineers (1x Regional Finalist, 1x Regional Winner, 1x Division Finalist, and a Dean's List Finalist)

I think what is even more impressive is seeding 14th on curie in 2014, going 7-3 in quals. Very few rookies do THAT well at champs.
