Bumper Mounting Locations

Is there a requirement to have an anchor point every 8" from the bumper to the robot frame? We we told that this was a requirement in the past, but i cannot find this requirement.

Take a look at R26, it does not mention being attached, simply backed.

That is correct.

Also, there is a requirement that the end half-inch of each bumper be supported, same place.

Thank you, this is what I thought in reading r26. One other question, if the bumper end at an 1" vex upright, can you support just after it, that would be 1" from the end?

Not quite sure what you're asking. The rule here is R26:

  • A. must not be greater than ¼” deep, or
  • B. not more than 8 in. wide.

Ideally, the last 1/2" must be backed by non-articulated frame. How far away a 1" wide piece of VersaFrame Tubing must be from the edge is probably an inspection discretion item, but I would aim to put the frame directly at the edge of the bumper, or a bit past.

Eric,
Show me in the rules that a frame support must originate from the robot and not the bumper itself.
I see no such rule.

Sorry, couldn't find the old thread that has our discussion from before.
