Infinite Height - Driver's Station?

Does anyone know if the Driver's station has an infinite height? We want to know...for reasons...

I kind of doubt that the driver's station has infinite height as the venues have roofs. :D

Yes they said in qa that you can mount your camera on a pole. :) For us we added another monitor and camera on the bot. :D

Keep in mind if you have a tall driver station it needs to be secured very well considering how much robots are ramming into things in auto.

Actual height left as exercise to reader.

At Granite State, Windham Windup had a camera on an 8-foot pole mounted high above the driver station to see over the defenses on the field. Yes, it is legal. Yes, event venues have roofs.

My question is was it "securely" attached to your operator console. Say if we had a camera support that was leaning against the castle wall, would that be legal?

I can't say whether it would be legal or not, but I can say that is sounds like a bad idea. Especially if you, y'know, want to be able to actually use it (robots frequently run into driver's station walls, which may cause something just leaning against the wall to fall).

In the immortal words of Dave Lavery: "You can be legal and be graciously professional, but still be dumb." Secure your pole and don't give them a reason to ban them on safety grounds.

Legal? Maybe... Depends on how the field staff feel about safety. Smart? No. There are hard impacts on the driver station wall practically every match. If your camera on a pole is just leaning against the wall, it will be knocked over repeatedly. This would distract your drive team and possibly those on either side of you, and possibly injure someone when it falls over.

Please get it securely attached.

Ya the idea was that since we couldn't hold on to it during autonomous we would run and grab it and hold it during teleop. However, both your points are well received and we will be looking to secure it some how for the future.

Would you mind sharing how you secured your camera pole?
