I just noticed something...

The most users that have ever been concurrently active on this board is 107. That's alot! I'm a regular on linuxnewbie.org, which is (afaik) the largest linux help forum online...has around 35000 members. The most they have ever seen is ~170 members online. I just found that kinda interesting.

(Although, with LNO, most people who register don't have more than 20 posts...since once their problems are solved, they have no reason to give back to the community. *cough*)

Let's see if we can triple the record! :D How about everybody get online 8pm EST on Friday? Let's see what kind of traffic Mr. Martus' (resold or whatever) servers can handle! (Better hope they're running linux! :D)

oooh... that sounds devious...

i'm in! everyone knows i have nothing going on friday nights anyway =-/

back in the days that there was a huge debate about segway and IT.... i mistakinly posted a link to CD's gallery on www.theitquestion.com. We ended up with something liek 20 registered users and 405 guests online at the same time.... it was kinda nuts..

Yes, and after that IT incident, we were moved to the empty server, so we could handle big loads. I really don't think there will be any problems.

@evulish: of course the server runs linux. I wouldn't host on an IIS server.

I've been on http://forums.winamp.com a few times, and every time I'm on there there are at least 400-600 users online. So, I know vBulletin can handle it.

I don't care what ya all do, just don't start some sort of real-time chat in the chit-chat forum. I'll hunt you down and unplug your computer if ya break something. :)
