rookies

We held our first official in school meeting today and we had a bum load of rookies show up, I was just wondering if any other teems had a good rookie turn out?

evulish 26-09-2002 00:42

Our first meeting was...well...two days ago. We had probably 8-12 noobs there. That's not all of them (I hope) There were all supposed to be there but I doubt they all were. Wasn't a bad turnout for the first meeting.

Dave_222 26-09-2002 00:43

the sad thing is we will only see about 1/4 of them ever again.

Aaron Lussier 26-09-2002 06:50

We had 60 sign up but I don't think they will all show up. Maybe half will come to our first expo night.

Rob Colatutto 26-09-2002 14:47

we had 3 pages, front and back of 9th and 10th graders sign up, 5 came. thats the best turnout from south we have ever had

since my brother is in 9th this year, we have about 10 kids that are coming, and will stay. the thing is, i'm not sure if i want them, cause they'll just aggravate me like they do in my boy scout troop (which they are also part of).

I tend to agree. Though it is great that you're sharing something with your younger sibs, they *do* get very annoying after a while.
I brought my younger brother to Regionals my Junior year and he was fascinated with it. He joined the next year, so I was a Senior and he was a freshman. *sigh* He did hardly anything the entire season. I stressed myself out that year. (Rather stupid of me) But I also felt responsible for getting my brother to do stuff and he just wouldn't. He supposedly joined this year, but I don't know how that's gonna work, exactly.

Ian W. 26-09-2002 17:11

well, i didn't tell him to join. my parents did. they were kinda like, so jake (my brother), you're doing robotics, right? of course, all he could do was say yes. oh well, it could be worse.

Dave_222 26-09-2002 20:04

It could you cold have an older sibling join then quit and make the advisor mad at you before you even join.

Wehave about 40 people signed up this year. Of those 40, 18 are veterans on the team. I'm guessing, though, that by the time the build rolls around we will have about 30 members. By the time Nationals gets here, we'll probably have a few less than that.

nope

had about 5 new ones plus whatever we had the year b4

Dinush 29-09-2002 19:15

We had our first meeting a while ago, and just as last year, we got a huge amount of people there. Last year was our first, and only around 12 people made it to the competiotion, out of the 50 who participated in meetings in the beginning. We'll have to see what happens this year... We'll have to try to make them stay somehow.

grr our first meeting is tomorrow after we sign up for our regional(note: the NYC regional is no longer at columbia...grr) so we neeed to have a decent freshman/sophmore turn out just to convince the school, "this is a good thing..trust me"

Is Riverbank State Park nice, Evan? ...if you've been there, or seen it, even.

I'd never even heard of it until this week. It matters little, though, since it's again scheduled the same weekend as Long Island.

E. The Kidd 01-10-2002 13:14

Riverbank State Park is nice but yet there is nothing to really eat around there except Mc Donalds (there is a kfc and a pizza hut around there but its a bit of a walk and you would have to know how to get around manhattan)
