My team will be at Dalton, but I will be traveling. I am hoping there will be a webcast, but I don't see one yet. Anybody know? I loved the quality of the youtube webcast from Columbus, and hope for similar from Dalton.

Whether it was the lack of a practice field, carpet being laid over turf
For the very first Peachtree district ever, let's give them a pass on these. Not having a practice field is inexcusable, but hopefully lesson learned. Carpet over turf is something I never would have predicted, so it is excusable, but again, hppefully lesson learned.

The first year of MAR has similar trip-ups; we don't see those any more.

That being said: Please volunteer to help at a PCH district in any capacity you can. Can never have too much help. Look for me as RI at Kennesaw.

Fun fact on this:
There are even more layers than you would expect!
1. Ice Hockey Rink
2. Football Field Astro Turf
3. Venue's protective carpet
4. GA FIRST protective carpet over entire venue
5. Field carpet

However, 1311 has been woefully missing from the GA competitive and awards scene, but all that is about to change. Featuring a “monstrous” drivetrain and a hanger, 1311 could redefine what it means to be a breacher in our district. As most teams do, we expect 1311 will struggle early in the event, but the key to their success, and a potentially strong alliance partner in eliminations, will be their ability to bolster their score with a fast, consistent hang.

Looking forward to watching this team compete, their robot looks great! Most of all hope that they win CA, they are certainly on my short list for HoF.

Feel free to provide it to the appropriate people. They are truly trying to provide the best experience possible.

I think it's been pretty well established (by people in this thread and many other district events) that the "no room" excuse isn't going to fly here.

Many events have been held in the arena style layout and quite a few of those manage to fit in practice facilities. Heck, Palmetto managed to fit an entire practice field in the walkway back in Clemson.

From what I've heard, the plan is that both events will be streamed. They use youtube for the streams, so there should be a link available tomorrow and then a separate link for Saturday.

I have to compliment whomever did the Columbus event's webcast. That stream was pretty perfect, clear, and had great angles all around the field. Keep that up please!

We were browning out every match due to the carpet. We practice on competition spec carpet over hardwoods and run the tires at 12psi on that surface. At Columbus, we bumped the pressure up to 35psi and still couldn't really turn before finally wrapping one set of wheels in duct tape to let them slide. Everything else about Columbus was great, even the lack of practice field was forgivable. The carpet situation; however; was inexcusable and if it is going to be the same in the future we will not be returning.

Haha. 1311 struggling early on is an understatement. Two failed matches with wiring defects. Then we completely torsionally sheared all four wheel axles. It is four wheel drive.

The team is having a lot of fun even though we have some challenges. Hopefully we can iron this out and do better at the next event.

But the fun and the learning is off the map awesome.

So far we're loving the Albany event so far. Venue is roomy, the small number of teams makes scouting interesting, and our robot performance is making us pretty happy. We miss having a practice field, but we're still doing okay. Look forward to my post event recap for more thoughts.
