LOL like I said all these top polls are basically popularity contests. No one knows all the teams in every area. No way I could even fill out realistically a top 40 and I scout a lot of teams and attended two events with about 100 teams.

The top is not that deep this year..its a hard (like last year) and brutal engineering challenge this year.
I'd say CVR was roughly 8 deep then it dropped off
SD was about 5 deep with decent higher end performers for this years game.

Its a year of survival more than anything. Will be very interesting to see teams in worlds how they'll hold up with some mileage put on.

Sure they may be popularity contests. One way to become popular is to do well consistently - that's something all of these teams have.

I disagree I'll put 5817 on any of the three lists they have listed in OP... over some of the more popular teams. They are definitely a top 40 in world team this year (through week 2) . I have zero doubt of that seeing them in action. (Cycle times, swerve , deadly OW shot)

So its not really a "top 40" is it? When it seems required to "do well consistently" which has nothing to do with this year..so it is a popularity team #'s you remember list that no one can realistically fill out accurately for the current year.

Not 5817's fault no one really knows about them yet nationwide for a poll

Should be "Top 40 historic teams you remember from previous years doing OK this year list"

Yes previous wins deems success but discounts newer rookie teams doing well in current year so take any top 40 with a grain of salt.

BTW congrats 2485 love your designs every season your team received a well deserved engineering award this season, enjoy the worlds.

Your gripes may have been better received if you started with citing 5817 as a team worthy of the Top 25/40, rather than your own team.

I just did they are better than us they shoot HG better than just about anyone plus HG auto, lets be honest there us no way to do a top 40 here...maybe top 10 each week would be more accurate. Too many competitions to keep track of.

I find recap shows and lists funny is all and the OP asked for input. I hope I put 5817 on everyone's radar for worlds. As long as they don't break down again they are very solid.

Honestly we are likely out of top 40... so are some bots currently on the list due to "not popular" ones killing it.

I just like to make waves and get the discussion flowing. On any topic at FRC which is old and needs shook up a bit. Look at instant replay stuff is happening.

I just wanted to clarify that we will not be releasing the entire poll and are happy to show who was in the Top 40 instead of just the Top 25. If you would like to know where your team landed, please either post or send me a PM and I am happy to let you know.

Can we get a poll where the rankings are adjusted to account for the incredible depth of California events?

I going to be honest and say straight up that it seems that there is no way that your opinion will be swayed and that's okay. You are correct like practically any other poll there is information bias and margin of error.

<Addressing everyone>
With that said one of the reasons we brought back the 'expert' poll to help balance the geographic inconsistancues. Does this cover 100%? Absolutely not but it does help balance this.

I certainly hoped that you voted and filled out the sheet correctly. Some people do just like 5-10 teams and then put in fake teams or try to manipulate the system in other ways. We catch 95% of it and have a program set up to do so and then I personally manually check it after.

Healthy debate is great but no matter what there is always going to be somebody to pour salt or complain. Remember this is for FUN and not officially recognized through FIRST.

So either have fun with it or don't. We hope you do and contribute to the FRC Top 25 and enjoy content that is being provided. It is the goal of our show (and of GS) to provide engaging content that will get more of the FRC community involved. I am delighted to hear your feedback and the show will continue to evolve

Thank you to all those who watch.

How should we measure that? Are there any deep events outside Cali?

California has the 11th highest average elevation in the US, meaning that California isn't very deep.

I don't fill out any top 40/25 sheet because I have no clue how to do that accurately too many slots open to personal bias on teams who's # you remember from last year.

Why not shorten your list to top 10 world wide in current year + top 10 in your events area each week of those you actually witnessed to get a better accuracy then meld the two lists together for a top 25/40?

A 25 slot list is not ideal because no one really has a clue how to accurately fill it out. I think lists of 10 people can handle better with less "historic" bias.

You might actually get a better top 40 list as swayed by popularity ratings. Experts have bias too.

Measuring depth relative to mean sea level, the deepest event should be Bayou, in progress now at the Pontchartrain Convention Center. :)

An event in Georgia had their field on Astro turf. I'd argue that makes it the deepest field in FRC. The rest of them resist robots sinking in far more.

Interesting! So, using robot wheel 'sinkage' relative to mean field level as our metric, the deepest event so far would be 1992 in Manchester! And the shallowest would be any event in 2009.
