Re: 2046 robot stolen

Update: We have been contacted by several news local news casts to do interviews and right articles on us. Our plan is to use the publicity to inform the public of FIRST rather than have people feel sorry for us. Komo is coming to our shop today to do an interview of several of our mentors.
Teams from all over are offering us parts and tools and thank you all so much! We ordered some stock and plan to have our drive train hubs machined and all the wiring checked and nylon tubed to be up to par for Auburn. Even though we are upset by everything, we have big plans to get this resolved and the practice bot will be ready by saturday. Big thanks to teams 5920 and 4061 who are bringing a meal for us tomorrow night. New batteries have been bought as well and 2907 is open to our shop and tools as needed.
Watching everyone reach out to us and offer their help is absolutely inspiring and demonstrates how the FIRST community handles things like this.

Great attitude !

A similar stolen robot trailer incident happened in 2013. 4603 from Mexico had their robot & trailer stolen before the regional. The team did not have spare parts or a practice robot.

Many of the Alamo teams pooled together to help the team build a new robot at the Regional and they reached the 2013 Alamo semi-finals !

Love it!
Get the word out about FIRST, and let everyone know about your stolen stuff. It's awesome how the FIRST (and CD) community is stepping up, and your team has such a great attitude about this.

I'd love to hear that your stuff has been found and the offender(s) get arrested!

Good luck!!

This is absolutely terrible, we had the honor of being a part of an alliance with 2046 in Curie Division last year and they are a group of great gracious professionals. Team 5586 made sure to watch the live stream of our former alliance partners at their district event and they performed as superb as expected, so we wish them best of luck and hope that they can continue their trend of success with their backup bot!

In terms of other past examples, unfortunately this also happened to 5338 on their way back from the Smoky Mountains Regional last year.

Fortunately, the robot was recovered afterwards (though not in time to use it at CMP).

Hopefully the media attention to 2046 can help a similar resolution come about.

Say it isn't so: FRC 2046 Robot stolen?

I saw this on Facebook, and I hope it isn't true. I know 2046 was a finalist and winner up in the Pacific NW. I hope they get their robot and tools back, and if not let the FIRST community know what we can do to help.

Quite saddened to hear about 2046's loss, we were right next to them in the pits, and they had a really good robot. Hopefully you guys will find the robot + your stuff, at least you had a backup robot, so thats something. I wish you guys the best of luck!::safety::

I hope whoever still has the RoboRIO realizes it is going to be pretty hard to use.

Doesn't look to worse for wear by the picture. Glad they got it back!

And pretty much anyone who can use it can find out if it's Bear Metal's pretty easily...

I will be sending two emails today. I have an exciting update on Bear Metal's wayward robot that I wanted to get out right away but my second one will have some very important information in it so please take time to read it!

I wanted to let everyone know that Xcalibear has been returned! It was found outside Tahoma High School this morning. The roborio is gone and there is a fair amount of condensation, but otherwise it is largely intact!

The team has really come together this week to overcome the hurdles that have been thrust in front of them. Though this is excellent news, it most definitely puts another bump in the road as they decide which direction to go now. I am respectfully asking that you all give them a bit of space and show your support on Facebook rather than texting or emailing the coaches. This is excellent news but there is still much work to be done before the competition on Friday.

Thank you everyone for your support. Seeing the overwhelming support for both of these teams warms my heart and brings tears to my eyes. I am so proud to work with all of you.

Regards,

Adrienne Rime

Awesome news!
That's good to hear.

Even though team 5980 is a rookie team we are sad to see that the idea of gracious professionalism could be stomped on by a team that is jealous of your success. Stealing a large item like that is not a single handed effort and that is disappointing to see that groups of people would conspire to do such acts. We wish you the best of luck finding and fixing your robot.

It's unlikely that another team was the perpetrators here. It was much more likely that it was a common criminal looking to steal their trailer, without knowing the contents.
