Bus Parking for Lone Star

So the last word we have gotten is that there is no bus parking at the Lone Star venue. Any hints for us out-of-towners about what we should do? It's a real problem for us since I am both the head coach and the bus driver. Any advice would be appreciated.

Depends on where you guys are staying and are there other adults traveling with you?

If the hotel you are staying at has shuttles that run to the convention center and there are other adults you could drop everyone off, take the bus back to the hotel and park it then get the shuttle service to take you back. Lot of time on the road but may be an option.

You can PM me with more info and we can brainstorm. We could use bus parking too but it just is not to be had this year. I know our RD has been working hard but with the Super Bowl in Houston next year they decided hotels are more important than parking.

We're staying out off Kirby (we're pretty low budget), so I'm afraid the shuttle option is not viable. I do have other adults with me, but not licensed for the bus. I'm trying to recruit a driver right now to at least free me to go in with the team.

Is there anywhere downtown that we can pay to park a bus?

Ampco parking operates several lots in downtown Houston. Perhaps they could help? 877-727-5452

The above ground lots will normally let buses and trailors park, I've paid $20 for a day but we have a small bus (14 passengers). I've also parked it on the road before and just paid the meter. It easier if you go east of 59, around BBVA Compass Stadium area.

I asked our RD about this and as of Friday she said that they had told her no buses would be allowed in those lots (the ones across from the convention center).

I just meant downtown in general. Other side of minute maid, or by Toyota Center. Those aren't used as much unless their is an event at those venues and they often let you use the space. It's further away but only a couple blocks to walk.

Just talked to Lucia (RD), they still don't have an answer about the bus parking lot. If they hear back they will let teams know.

We received confirmation from the Astros organization late tonight they will have a lot available for buses and trailers all three days. We just need confirmation on which lot. Lucia(RD) will send out details when they send them in the morning.

And this is why I think Lucia and her peeps who run LSR are the best. :D

Re: Bus Parking for Lone Star

I just got off the phone with Lucia and there ended up being some issues that could not be resolved with the parking folks, so we are back to where we were yesterday. The suggestion from GRB is to locate a parking lot with an attendant to negotiate a rate for bus parking.

Also for those driving in, Lucia said the Avenida De Las Americas is closed for at least Thursday, thus parking in the Discover Green Garage will not be accessible.

I apologize for the uncertain updates, I was trying to help out with parking if I could.

Lucia should be sending out an update to the teams shortly.

Mark
