Powering RoboRIO?

Next year, I want our team to use Python for programming - I think that it's easier to learn than C++ or Java, as well as the fact that I know Python (much) better than either of those two languages. However, I'd like to POC this during the offseason, when I will have no access to the robot.

How are folks powering a RoboRIO that's separate from a PDP, SLA battery, etc - all of that seems a bit overkill for an offseason project that's not going to power any actual motors or anything of the like. At best, I'll be measuring the PWM pins with a multimeter.

I just use a 12v/2a wall charger.
You can use one with an output as low as 300ma if you aren't powering anything other than one or two servos.

I hooked up an old pc power supply I had laying around. You need to put a load on the 5volt line, and short the power on line.
