Our Robot Came Back Broken from the Museum

Hey All,

I have an announcement to make. Three teams where offered a spot in the Queens museum of Science McKee HS, SI Tech HS and Brooklyn. We all got our ropbots back a couple of weeks ago. it was just noticed that our robot came back with another teams robot controller witha tether attached a badly written prgram and a bad radio port. If any teams visited the display in queens or actually swapped our working parts with bad one all our school and broken hearted team asks is that u come forward. no charges will br brought against u. once again if anyone knows about what happened to team 522 working parts please contact me

Hey genius,

How about u call the regional coordinator like Gompers (team 380) did. We had their controller and didn't know whose it was. Due to their phone call an e-mail was sent to all of the NYC teams. We returned their controller Friday and they're coming for their goal on Monday.

so the museam just took things into thier own hands and decided to play around with your bots and see if the parts were interchangable?

Orr the just forgot to label their stuff.

In response to labeling stuff. WE know exactly what was shipped with our bot. Of course no batteries and controls to run the bot. and the Robot controller that we sent with the bot did not have a tether attached to it. the functions of the robot with the broken controller is Left Turns and since it was last years bot we had a rear arm that as of now constantly moves. What I will be doing is hopefully repairing the unit. try to get the program we made for the robot in which will solve half the problem. the other half of it would be how to retrieve any controller info.

i would like to know is there a way to retrieve infor mation from the controller. e.g. downloading the current program to a host pc. well anyways i will be taking a look at the robot sinc ei have not seen it yet but my coaches have and see if i can make heads or tales whether or not the damage that was done can be repaired with out having to by a new robot controller system which will cost about 800 $

as for the museum switching parts on us that could also be a possibilty, even though it sounds like a joke but it could very well be.

and finally we can't call the regional coordinator about this b/c
A: it wasn't during the regionals that this happened
B: it was over the summer at a museum.

the only other person to call is Anna Martinez and see if she can dig up who visited the display which is nearly impossible since it coulda been anyone.

I will make some suggestions to my coaches on how to resolve this problem. and hopefully this will be one problem that will not re occur again.

The basic stamp only transfers data one way so you will not be able to retrieve the program currently in the controller.

As for the incident, your team and this so called "museum" need to sit down and have a little talk. As far as I'm concerned that is obsurd and they need to put a check in your hands within 2 weeks covering all the damages and expenses.

How would other teams \ people get access to ur bot you would think they would have a little security or somthing

1st: Ana Martinez IS the regional coordinator
2nd Gompers controls system was sent to us AFTER the season because they were on display at the museum as well

Good News, We managed to repair our robot. The proble was not the programming or the swapping of Robot Controllers. However the problem was that someone we don't know who and we no longer care decided to rewire the controller board. basically move the pwm cables from one pin to another there fore mixing up pneumatics and motor functions. i do thank you for your help and advice on how to approriately handle this situation. Thanks Again for all your help

All i had to do was study the rear arm movement and what axis controlled it on the joystick before i knew that the rear was rewired and that the motor and pneumatic functions posed the same symptoms to a wiring fault on the robot controller :D i good i real good at trouble shooting.

so for the record 3 years WILMA our 2001 robo wonder still has and will remain undefeated 0 mechanical failures 2 wiring faults
