[MAR] 2016 Mid-Atlantic District Championship
 

The 2016 Mid-Atlantic District Championship is about to begin!

Here are the 60 teams currently signed up to attend, along with how many MAR points they have. It's definitely an exciting list; I can't believe that only 24 of these teams will make eliminations!

There are nineteen teams who will qualify for St. Louis this weekend, since three of MAR's spots have already been given out to 11 (South Florida Chairman's), 1676 (Buckeye Chairman's) and 2590 (South Florida Wildcard).

Additionally, 341 and 365 are Hall of Fame teams and will generate an additional points slot if they qualify again here.

3637 and 5404 have qualified for St. Louis from waitlist spots, and there is some debate about what would happen if they also qualify here (will another points slot be created or not?).

Lastly, I'll be live updating my Unofficial 2016 MAR Rankings offline during the event, so feel free to find me on Saturday afternoon to see how your World Champs prospects are looking, or feel free to download the Google Doc as an Excel file in advance and work the numbers yourself.

Looking back at last year's rankings, it does appear that 1403 was skipped over for a MAR point slot to World Champs in 2015 since they were already qualified for World Champs via the waitlist, but we'll see what happens this weekend. See everyone tomorrow!

Team 1257 can't wait! We're excited to have the Weasel hit the field for the third time this season.

Also, special shout-out to all the teams that have been on our alliances (5624, 1676, 25, 3340, and 555)! We couldn't have made it this far without you guys!

IIRC, allocating the MAR Championship slots is as follows:
22 slots for 2016
subtract the slots MAR teams earned at a Regional Event
subtract the slots for CA, EI, RAS, and Winning Alliance at District CMP
for the remaining slots, go down the Final Rankings giving the slot to the teams that have not already qualified, ie HOF and WL teams are skipped as well as the ones listed above.
In the above process no slots are "black holed", 22 unique teams plus HOF and WL teams are sent to St Louis.

This was also the process for 2015.

Prior to 2015 the process was "more complicated."

It appears that teams 303 and 423, both competing at MAR Champs this weekend, got off the wait list for World Champs today (as did MAR team 433!). Congrats! Let's see if that'll pass on any MAR Champs --> World Champs slots earned tomorrow.
