Driver Station Transparent HUD display?

Hi,

Looking at some new cars, you see that they have HUD displays that show things like MPH and directions onto your windshield. I was thinking this would be very cool to make a larger version for our driver station that could display pneumatic pressure, whether there is a boulder in the robot, etc.

The problem is, I can't find too much information on how to make one yourself. I obviously know you need a projector of some sort, but how big and how bright? What do I need to use for projecting the image onto? Is there a special film that is needed so the image comes in clearly?

Thanks!

Are you wanting to do this on the glass of the driver station? If so you would need to find a way to make sure you can power it first (giving up that plug for the computer to the projector) and finding a projector with a wide angle to make it fit.

You also could just overlay it on a camerafeed on the monitor of the driver station computer, which would make a lot more sense.

There was a team last year that did something along these lines. You might be able to find some information in this thread about it.
