Fun to do at St Louis
As part of the fun, we always try to make 3 different things in US
The most important thing is to compete. As all the foreign, we like to shop, and to finish the trip, we like to do something fun and something cultural We use to go to museums of to see the snow (in Brazil this is not a reality), go to parks (such as six flags...) What do you recommend us to do with our students? |
Re: Fun to do at St Louis
The City Museum is really cool. There are a lot of exhibits but the best part is that it is a playground for everyone. You are encouraged to climb on everything and they have a lot of fun things to climb in and around. Also, they have 10 story (45 meters) tall slide.

For sure the St. Louis Zoo Its free and a lot of fun. I would also lean towards Snarfs Sandwhiches for food. Have fun in St Louis!!

Re: Fun to do at St Louis
The Zoo and City Museum are great suggestions. I would also add the St. Louis Science Center to the list, which is also free.
*Note: It's not open very late, but if you were to arrive early on Wednesday before load-in, it is a place to kill some time. |
Re: Fun to do at St Louis
Thank for the tip Bill
we are already checking this possibility, and i hope no one stuck their heads on our visit The zoo is always a good option too, and if tise sandwich is that good, is something to check too. |

Thanks for the guide, it will be very useful
Interesting information and curiosities. Good job |
Re: Fun to do at St Louis
If you visit the Zoo, it's worth making a side trip to Turtle Playground, just across the freeway from the south parking lots. I stumbled over this last year -- it's quite amazing.

Re: Fun to do at St Louis
You can always go to a Cards game, that's quite a cultural experience. Could be a little pricey, but if you've done 6 Flags before that's probably not a huge deal.

As another international team, the City Museum is a MUST for us whenever we go. You can spend heaps of time there, we'd probably spend half a day. A highlight for us every year!! In addition to the City Museum, first time visitors should definitely check out the Gateway Arch. It has such a beautiful view, and is rich in American history for everyone to learn. The ride up is awesome!! |

Re: Fun to do at St Louis
As stated above, the City Museum is absolutely amazing. We went there our first (and only) time going to Worlds and we all had a blast. There was also a place I forget the name of near our hotel that had like laser tag and arcade games and bumper cars and all that, but I feel that's not really what you're looking for.

Eating at Pappy's is the only St Louis activity for me.

Re: Fun to do at St Louis
Visit Washington University in St. Louis! WashU is a beautiful college filled with amazing people, and it's the 15th best university according to U.S. News. Everyone I've known who has gone there has loved it! (In fact, it was one of my top 2 colleges I was choosing between.) I highly recommend your team take a tour, especially if you're from far away and probably wouldn't visit on your own. Plus, they offer an FRC scholarship!
Fitz's is a great place to eat if you're there. They gave me the biggest root beer float I've ever seen! It was so good, but it was HUGE! Piccione Pastry has the BEST cannoli's I've ever had! GO THERE. http://www.piccionepastry.com/ |

Re: Fun to do at St Louis
If you really want a St. Louis cultural experience, try to find a blues bar and see if they have the space for your team to visit. We did this in 2013, and it was really cool. If you enjoy live music and decent barbecue, most of these establishments are very clean and the service is great. Just check google reviews before picking one :p

Pappy's is tourist BBQ. Have any of you been to Smoki-O's*? Their snoots are amazing!
:p *don't forget to lock your car |
Re: Fun to do at St Louis
I'm surprised no one has mentioned going up the Arch. We did this last year and it was an absolute blast. It's really not expensive either.
We also went to the City Museum last year as well. I'd had watched a lot of video on it prior to the trip and video does not prepare you for how awesome it actually is. Being the coaster fanatic I am, also gotta mention Six Flags. |

Ok guys didn't mean to start a BBQ war here, just making some suggestions. :D

Re: Fun to do at St Louis
I heard you can go up the leg of the arch.... sounds like a good tourist experience after Worlds.
|
Re: Fun to do at St Louis
We were told the area around the arch and the top of the arch is under construction so we decided agaimst it. Would also need to reserve tickets and timespots in advance.
