This happened to us at Hartford and Worlds. Customer service is amazing when this happens!

I see I've started a "post your broken gears" phenomenon. :)

Are these the 14t gears? We had the exact same failure at our first district. Swapped them for steel replacements.

We also noticed some significant wear on the input gears, which seemed to be due to our CIMs getting pushed out of position (from inboard to outboard). We secured them with hose clamps and the problem went away - a nice trick to remember for the future.

These are the 14t gears in the second reduction. We also switched to steel for champs and had success with them there. Lessons learned. Although I do not we have experienced any problems with the pinion gears on the CIMs. I will check again and thanks for the heads up.

It was the gear the pinions were meshing with that was taking most of the beating, not the pinions themselves. I've got a pic that I'll upload later tonight.
