Will there be any rule modifications at Beantown? Battlecry had some great ones and it really changed the game. If there were rule changes when would they be announced?

Just want to remind folks we're running student judges and still have a few slots available. This judge room will be using different awards but similar process, timing, and training to that used at official events.

BTW, is there any way to find a more finalized teams list (or is it not finished yet?)?

Is this event open for people to go to and watch from the stands or is it only open for the teams that have registered and the people affiliated with those teams? I was thinking of coming down and watching this event as it seems like a whole lot of fun.

The event is open to the public!

Rule Updates:

1. 3.1.4 Tower Strength = 10 for all matches.

2. 5.5.10 - In QUALIFICATIONS - Defenses will be randomly selected / placed per the details below, and matched on each side of the field. The placement will be defined in advance and will change every 10-12 matches to match the robot cycles. There will be no Audience Selection of Defenses.
A. Cheval de Frise
B. Ramparts or Moat
C. Sally Port
D. Rough Terrain or Rock Wall
E. Low Bar (Always in play and in position 1.)

3. 5.5.10 - In ELIMINATIONS - Defenses will be selected by the opposing alliance (Category and Placement, except Low Bar) per the categories below. There will be no Audience Selection of Defenses.
A. Cheval de Frise
B. Ramparts or Moat
C. Sally Port
D. Rough Terrain or Rock Wall

4. The "Golden Boulder" - The ALLIANCE with the highest score directly following the end of the AUTONOMOUS period will be granted a GOLDEN BOULDER. The GOLDEN BOULDER will be placed into the human player station of the higher autonomous scoring alliance.

In the event of a tie coming out of AUTONOMOUS mode, each ALLIANCE will be given a GOLDEN BOULDER.

This GOLDEN BOULDER will be worth 2x the point value of a normal BOULDER. 4 points for every LOW GOAL scored and 10 points for every HIGH GOAL scored. Each GOLDEN BOULDER scored will do -1 DAMAGE to the TOWER.

The GOLDEN BOULDER can be scored indefinitely throughout the match. The GOLDEN BOULDER counts as a normal BOULDER in a driver station. Meaning, an ALLIANCE must not have more than a total of 6 BOULDERS and GOLDEN BOULDERS in their station at anytime.

5. G38 Clarification - Driving over or getting stuck on a boulder while holding another bolder will not be a violation of G38.

6. G13 Exception – G13 Applies, however, AFTER a robot has fully crossed a defense and returned to the midline, a robot may cross the midline with no foul and contact with an opposing alliance robot will not be an additional foul.

Any questions can be sent to myself or Brando here or at nutrons@gmail.com

We look forward to seeing everyone Saturday!

In other words, each golden boulder will actually add strength to the tower?

The points value of the Golden Boulder is twice that of a normal ball (4 for low, 10 for high). However, the Golden Boulder only weakens the tower by one ball's worth.

It does not add any strength to the tower.

Thank you! My confusion on how the golden boulder affected the tower stemmed from the sentence: "Each GOLDEN BOULDER scored will do -1 DAMAGE to the TOWER."
The wording of this sentence had lead me to think that that the tower would take -1 damage for each golden boulder scored, increasing its health by 1.
Thanks for clarifying.
