2016 Ozark Mountain Brawl
I want to let each of you know about this year’s Ozark Mountain Brawl taking place on the beautiful campus of Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. This event will occur on Friday, Oct. 7th through Saturday, Oct. 8th.
SCHEDULE Friday, Oct. 7th, 2016 1:00 Doors open for teams to set up pits, registration, WPA encryption, safety inspection begins, Practice field opens, and Concession Stand opens. 3:00 - 4:30 Practice matches 4:30 Driver meeting 5:00 – 7:30 Qualification matches Saturday, Oct. 8th, 2016 8:30 Doors open for teams 9:00 Opening ceremony 9:30–11:30 Qualification matches 11:45 Alliance selection 12:00-1:00 Lunch 1:00 Elimination tournament 5:00 Estimated end of activities We are very excited to have this event on the campus of Harding University. It will be held in the newly renovated Ganus Athletic Center. This is the same location of the 2014 Arkansas Regional. There is lots of space for pits, game field, and even a large practice field area. Here is a link to a map of the campus. There are plenty of hotels in the area with some great rates. REGISTRATION You can register today at this link. Registration will close at 36 teams and the remaining registrants will be wait listed. Registration is on a first come first served basis. So register today and get your payment in to secure your spot. Cost will be as follows: $200 – Teams Early Registration (9/2/16) $250 – Teams Late Registration FREE - 2017 Rookie Teams Registration RULE CHANGES We will be implementing several rule changes for this year’s OMB. This may include changes to alliance selections. Stay tuned for those to be finalized. Here are the rule updates for the Ozark Mountain Brawl. Make sure to register soon here. There are still spots currently open, but they will fill up soon as the new school year begins. Cannot wait to see old friends and to meet new people. We are still working on the Friday night team social as well. Stay tuned for more information on the social and the team list as well as Team Updates.
RULE UPDATES 1. 5.5.10 - In QUALIFICATIONS - Defenses will be randomly selected/ placed per the details below. The placement will be defined in advance and will change every 8-10 matches to match the robot cycles. There will be no Audience Selection of Defenses. Below are the list of available defenses. A. Cheval de Frise B. Ramparts or Moat C. Sally Port D. Rough Terrain or Rock Wall E. Low Bar (Always in play and in position 1.) 2. 5.5.10 - In PLAYOFFS - Defenses will be selected by the opposing alliance (Category and Placement, except Low Bar) per the categories below. There will be no Audience Selection of Defenses. A. Cheval de Frise B. Ramparts or Moat C. Sally Port D. Rough Terrain or Rock Wall 3. G21 Revision - A ROBOT contacting carpet in the opponent’s SECRET PASSAGE may not contact opposing ROBOTS who are in contact with the carpet in the SECRET PASSAGE, regardless of who initiates the contact. 4. G38 Clarification - Driving over or getting stuck on a boulder while holding another bolder will not be a violation of G38. 5. R5 A +5 pound weight allowance is provided. 6. 5.4.1 - Draft Order 1-8, 8-1, 1-8. The fourth team member must play in at least one playoff match. 7. Video Replay will be implemented only in the elimination rounds. Each alliance captain will be allotted two “Video Review” cards. They may be used at any time during the elimination rounds. The “Video Review” card must be present to the head referee by the alliance caption via the question box. The alliance will lose the “Video Review” card whether it is a successful or unsuccessful review. |

Here is the current list of teams. We still have plenty of room. School is starting here in Arkansas this week, so we will have more teams from our state signing up soon. Spread the word and let everyone know about this event. As Meredith said before, we have lots of room. This is the venue that hosted the 2014 Arkansas Regional. We fit more than 35 teams in there and two halves of a practice field. Come join us for this great event!

Team 4635 (Botbusters) from Monterrey, Mexico just registered for the event we are hoping to be able to join you all on this event. Since we are a team from Mexico we have some questions regarding payment, who can we be communicate about this issue?

I wanted to thank everyone who came out to the 2016 Ozark Mountain Brawl. I was a great event because of all the wonderful volunteers, FTAs, and teams. We are already working out the final details for next year and have some wonderful new things in store. Hope you can join us in 2017 for this event.
I will be sending the results and scores to The Blue Alliance soon and will be posting the match videos within the next couple of weeks. Just have to go in and splice the video. Thanks again and good luck in the 2017 season SteamWorks! |
