FRC in movies

I was just watching "A Girl Like Her" on Netflix and noticed FRC robot from 2960 at about 15:25

Just thought to share.

Transformers: Age of Extinction has cameos from the Rebound Rumble robot for Team 2468 too.
Big Hero 6, iirc, consulted with Team 4.
Simbotics was on Degrassi.

I actually didn't know that. It's super cool to see these things in mainstream media. :)

842 was the inspiration for Spare Parts.

There's also the book "The New Cool" with 1717, 395, 217 and 67. Movie rights were sold to Walt Disney.

Jake Cooper, our driver for two years, is also featured in an interview in the extras section of the DVD.

Our team logo was the logo used for Yeager Robotics. They rented FTC robots, two old drive chassis's, motors, batteries, transmissions, controllers etc from us as well for the set of the shop.

FLL Team xTreme Team from Indio, CA was filmed extensively for the Lego documentary A Lego Brickumentary. Unfortunately it all ended up on the cutting room floor (including a brief appearance by me, sigh).

In Transformers, the walking robot was designed and built by FRC Team 1501's own mentor Mike Smyth.

IIRC Spare Parts was based off of 842's NURC team.

It was actually the MATE competition that 842 competed in. This Wired article was the first publication about the ROV team from Carl Hayden that competed in 2004, which eventually led to the film Spare Parts.

NURC was an underwater robotics competition hosted in Arizona by Carl Hayden from 2007-2013.

Not a reference, but in the TV show Designated Survivor, 11:14 PM unfortunately does not refer to Simbotics. I would have laughed had it been so.
