2016 Gateway Robotics Challenge - October 1st

Registration is open for the 2016 Gateway Robotics Challenge - http://gatewayroboticschallenge.com/registration.html Entry fee is $250 per team and teams can enter multiple robots with multiple drive teams.

This will be the 3rd year of our annual St. Louis area off-season event at Hazelwood Central High School. Thanks to FRC 1985 for being amazing event hosts!

We've taken feedback from last year and will be providing pre-order box lunches this year. We'll also have better visibility on team rankings throughout the event. Thank you for the valuable feedback so we can continue to make the event better each year.

More details on rule changes to come as we get closer to the event. Looking forward to seeing all the local teams and some out of town teams too!

Always! http://gatewayroboticschallenge.com/volunteer.html

Even if you have no experience but are interested in being a referee, game announcer, scorekeeper, etc. We will pair you with someone to help train you.

I would like to add that these events are great places for new volunteers to get involved and learn roles without the pressure that you sometimes experience at an official event.

You all must tune in to the webcast. Ryan is alternating on the mic with Game Announcing today. A good time is being had by all.

What a day! Congratulations to our winning alliance! Shout out to Ryan and his team, as well as all the volunteers for making this great event happen! We entered two robots, and our rookies learned more than we could have hoped for. And we got second seed, so that was fun.

The Luteran Roboteers "B" team would like to thank Teams 1658 and 1094 for selecting us as an alliance partner and leading us to capture the championship at GRC! It was a thrill for our rookie drive team! See you at the Steamworks in 2017!

Team 1658 would like to thank all the organizers and volunteers for hosting this awesome event and teams 1094 and 432(more accurately the Luteran Roboteers A and B teams!) for such an awesome alliance. We worked well together and it showed by setting numerous high scores of the day and winning the event!

If anyone has video or pictures of this event please contact me or post them. Youtube has taken the stream recording down so can't even watch that.

We recorded the matches and they will be uploaded this week once I edit them down to just the matches. YouTube kills the stream archive because of all the copyrighted music unfortunately.

The event schedule had this interesting entry:
12:00 PM - 12:30 PM - Lunch Break - District awareness presentation on the playing field during lunch

The presentation did not come through on the webcast and I was wondering what was said. Could someone who was there give a quick summary. I have heard rumors of a Missouri/Kansas district for 2018 and was hoping to hear the perspective of a second source.

Thanks,
Steve

It ended up not happening - most people were out to lunch. Basically it was just going to describe what the district model is but not talk specifics on the St. Louis / Missouri / Kansas situation as nothing is set in stone yet. More to give teams a heads up that districts should be coming in the future, hopefully.

That's too bad, but thanks for the update.

Team 1094 would like to thanks all the volunteers and everyone else who put all the hard work into putting this event together. It was excellent!!

Also thanks to 1658 for picking us!! We had a great time winning the competition with you guys! Also thanks to 432(9). Always great to work with you guys whether with your B robot or your main robot (like at the STL regional).

We had an awesome alliance as evidenced by our high scores at the competition!!

If anyone will be at CTTD we'll see you there otherwise we'll see you all next year for STEAMWORKS at the STL regional.

Videos are uploaded and can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...ObnSAIU-_0rW2h My apologies in advance on the awful audio quality. Unfortunately we did not hear the 'reverb' effect happening on our webcast PC but it's definitely there and is very annoying. I was going to spend the time to figure out how to fix it but I just don't have the time at the moment.

Event Results (No inter-picking in the top 8):

Alliance 1: 1658 - 1094 - 432 (4329B) - W
Alliance 2: 4256 - 4500 - 4144 (4143B) - SF
Alliance 3: 4143 - 1178 - 1207 (1208B) - F
Alliance 4: 3284 - 1208 - 4187 - SF
Alliance 5: 1329 - 5583 - 1985 - QF
Alliance 6: 931 - 2408 - 328 (3284B) - QF
Alliance 7: 1288 - 2040 - 4257 - QF
Alliance 8: 4329 - 4931 - 3397 - QF

Thank you to all of the teams that came out to compete this year. The event ran smoothly again in our 3rd year and we hope everyone had a fun time!
