Best FRC moments ever
Hey CD,
I'm looking to start a video project involving FRC history. I know I've made a thread about this a few years ago but I'm looking for a more updated list and hopefully more videos. I'm looking for the best moments in FRC to ever be caught on video. Basically, anything that made the crowd go insane or something that everyone there will remember. Some examples are 330's flips on Einstein 2016, 254 and 1114's chess match on Einstein 2014, the 987 vs 118 can battle in 2015, or even something like 190 leaping over 237 at River Rage in 2004. Whether it be a regional/championship winning moment or a small offseason Quals match, I would love if you could link to videos of the best moments in FRC history. |

Especially QF4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maEnW8d29ps EDIT: Sorry I completely did not mean to be offensive in that way. I have the up-most respect for 254,973,999 and 4499 and I did not intend to say what I said in a malicious way. For me as an individual who is a fan of 254 and 973 those two matches signify the unfortunate events that can lead to the downfall of a fantastic alliance that would have dominated Einstein. I see those matches as being memorable for me. I think these two matches are something that everyone there will remember, but not in a good way. I sincerely apologise to those who took what I said as offensive( which by looking at my rep bar was quite a few of you), looking back on what I said I think I could have expressed what I said a lot better, and I should have read the first post in full before replying. |

First of all, thanks for creating this thread! I've been getting bored this summer.. even with so many things to do I find myself with so much freetime, so thanks for giving me something to look into haha.
One of my funniest/best FRC moments was when the FTAs at the 10,000 lakes regional got tired of boulders rolling off the midline before the match started so they taped the one that kept rolling off to the ground. They took the tape off obviously, but it was pretty comical. Quote:

Anything to do with the 2010 Einstein steal with 67, 294, and 177. To this day, it remains one of my favorite memories in 9 years of FRC. The moments from Dean's speech from closing ceremonies this year. Putting senators AND the DoD on the spot was priceless, as was the truly inspirational story about Christa McAuliffe. |

Re: Best FRC moments ever
Quote:
The other half of the equation for the 1114 6v0 match was the particular teams involved. 111 and 1114 spent the entire weekend jockeying for the #1 seed. They were basically tied for #1 seed at the time. If 1114 played a hard fought match against 111 and 469 and lost, it would guarantee that 111 seeded above 1114, which would basically guarantee 111 advanced to Einstein. By playing the 6v0 match, 1114 ensured that 111 would only get 5 more ranking points than them in the worst case scenario. 1114's alliance partners needed to block their own goals in order to prevent 111 from scoring on themselves to boost their ranking. This match was a "hostile 6v0" in that 1114 did not collude with the opposing alliance before the match, and actively hindered their efforts to seed higher, so you can't say this is "throwing a match". This is the strategy that would give the 1114 alliance the most seeding points, while denying the most seeding points possible to the opposing alliance. If that makes your head hurt, you weren't alone. The ranking system was among the very best at actually ranking teams based on quality, but it sure did cause some headaches. |

This is the best video I've been able to find of 2010 Einstein Finals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6-BhYpfmm8 Others: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYdbNMGT-r0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOWmn4fBVCQ 469 + 1114 "6v0" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9EGAPBwgFU http://www.thebluealliance.com/team/1114/2010 Additional context to the 6v0 and the "upset": Up until that point, 1114 had not lost a single match the entire season, for a record of 55-0-2. Then they purposely lose the single match to secure the first seed and ally with 469, the (almost) perfect redirector. They enter the Einstein Finals with a record of 66-1-2. And leave with 66-3-2... CD reaction threads: https://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/s...t=85316&page=3 https://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=85436 I know I'm tooting my own horn here, but you asked for it... 1114+469+2041 was a fantastic alliance, and 1114 graciously allowed us to load-test our batteries with their equipment, even through the final matches. My best memory of FIRST was driving 294 while allied with 1114 the following year, though it did not end as well. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dxV...ie_zW&index=11 Teams 1714, 2169 and 3018 were randomly paired together in quals 81. As far as I know, this is the only time a whole alliance played together in a qualification match and those same 3 robots went on to win the event. |

Everything started out according to plan, until 558 tipped backwards trying to pick up a can. I(Drive Coach) told my driver to not pay attention to 558, because we could not afford the wasted time trying to right them. However, my driver called me off, and went for it. He righted them on his second try. That moment taught me that, in the end gracious professionalism is more important than the result of any match |

Might be a little biased, but I was the secondary driver for 968 and this was the deciding match for the Chezy Champs 2015 final, our alliance members put up their 6 stacks within the last 5 seconds and our alliance would of lost if our HP didn't throw a noodle on a bin at 4:35. |

Re: Best FRC moments ever
This was one of my favorite matches I've participated in:
IRI 2012, Quarterfinal 4, Match 1: Red - 469 68 125 vs. Blue - 51 33 1023 A really close match the whole way, Red and Blue trading the lead back and forth the entire match. Coming down to the last 20-30 seconds, both alliances start to setup a triple balance. As both alliances are executing the triple balance the real time score has blue up by 1. The HP from 125 on red nails a full court shot into the mid basket to put Red up by 1. Right after both alliances get their triple balances locked in, the blue HP hits a full court shot into the mid basket, now putting blue up by 1. Only a few seconds after blue drains their full court shot, the red HP hits ANOTHER full court shot into the mid basket to put red up by 1 for good. The lead changed hands twice essentially without any robots moving. -Brando |

Maybe not "Best Of" worthy, but during the last qual match at Granite State in 2014 131 caught our own trussed ball. Not worth any catch points, and certainly scrubbed the high goal attempt after that, but it got the crowd going pretty loud. Probably not the only of its kind that year, but for a robot not designed to catch and at a Week 1, it was really cool to see.
