Long Island Children's Museum Outreach Event
 

Hello!

If you don't already know, my name is Smiti Shah and I am co-captain of team 2869 in Bethpage, NY. I am posting this in regards to a proposed outreach event I have planned along with the Long Island Children's Museum in Garden City, NY.

We are hoping to get local children interested in FIRST by hosting a "FIRST Exhibit Day", in which local FIRST teams would be able to come and demo their robots in a given area, and talk to the kids about the wonderful opportunities there are when pursuing careers in STEM, and even hoping to be able to open their eyes to the fact of what they can do at their ages!

We will have small tables/spaces for the teams to set up their robots, and stations where kids can play with Legos and learn about Bristlebots.

We will be inviting FLL, FTC, and FRC teams to the event. I emailed a lot of teams in the area and got exactly 0 responses. I assume because it is the summer a lot of people don't check their school affiliated emails.

The main point of this post is to gauge interest. If you are (or even think you are) going to be able to make it to the event please take the google form attached! Also we are looking for FLL and FTC teams - so if you happen to not be on an FRC team but would like to go with your FLL/FTC team - also complete the survey! To make it easier to read the data - if you want to bring multiple teams you have affiliations with, just re-do the survey for each team!

As of now the outreach event is on Saturday, October 15th from 12 pm - 4 pm. Depending on how many teams sign up for the event, we will ask for a small monetary amount to go towards snacks and water for teams for the event (likely no more than $10). The amount of space per team is currently undecided, however we will notify all teams as soon as the event is certain.

To get an accurate estimation about the space required at the Long Island Children's Museum, we would like to know if your team is able to attend ASAP!

Additionally, if any teams have half fields (for either FLL, FTC, or FRC) you would like to bring to the event, please let us know asap so we can make the according space arrangements. The half fields can be made of wood (basically doesn't have to be anything too expensive - whatever you have is fine!).

Unfortunately, we have very few responses. Unless enough teams sign up by the end of next week, it looks like this outreach event will be cancelled. Please let me know ASAP if you can come!!!
