This is probably the most spotlight-worthy quotes I've ever seen in one thread...:p

Piztons lard. The only company without an internet presence that runs commercials. EST Last night.

This thread is the only relevant thing in the Google search...

There was nothing stating how it would get transparent but multiple accounts of it becoming foul in taste or smell. Lard can't be transparent, so even if the OP meant if lard is sold as transparent it isn't as good as thick lard, it wouldn't make sense.

Some Lard Tips For All of You:
-If you store lard properly in the refirgerator in an air-tight container it will last about a year
-If you decide to freeze it, in an air-tight container it will last over 3 years
-You should never try freezing lard in its original packaging. this will result in freezer burn and change of texture
-Defrosted lard can keep in the refrigerator safely without spoiling for up to 6 months.
-Never store your lard in an open container in one of your kitchen cabinets because mice, rats and insects will feed on it and cause it too spoil or become contaminated with fecal matter and harmful bacteria that is dangerous to your health.

Remember if you aren't sure if your lard has gone bad or not - just throw it out to be safe.

Stay lard safe everyone!

Is it possible that could be manufactured partly transparent, or at least translucent/clearish?

Something I just thought of: Piztons, Inc. could be a small business run out of someone's house, therefore not obvious on Google Maps. A business like this may not have a website, especially in such a small town. Though unless lard is insanely popular there, I don't see how they could be a major sponsor of an FRC team.

There is a method of "rendering" (ha) lard so that in liquid form it remains translucent (here). The OP describes the lard as clear, and says "transparency is a sign of BAD LARD". In fact, in the link's rendering process, the liquid lard is pretty clear, and that doesn't mean it's bad lard. There is this that describes the appearance of lard itself as translucent, but white-ish, BUT, describes the lard compound as "not translucent". However it goes on to state that anyone familiar with both items would clearly not mix them up. Unfortunately I am not well versed in the art of lard-making, so I am not sure if the compound it is referring to is sold in stores. In addition, this was published in 1919, I'm sure the lard-slang was different than what it is now.

All in all, melted lard maybe semi-translucent, but that is not a sign of bad lard. The lard itself can be translucent, but this is not a sign on bad lard. Going back to the original lard research, it is difficult to tell if lard is bad aside from visible mold, fecal matter, or a rancid-trash smell. If your lard has any of the above symptoms, it is a sign on bad lard.

I think Piztons Inc. should get in email contact with me and explain their lard motto a little bit more because I don't think I get it based on my research.

Not a bad theory, except the OP says they are "world famous" and have commercials. Two things that lead me to believe it wouldn't be a family owned business, that is if it even existed.

Do you think Pizton's Lard would want to be a FIRST supplier and give every team some lard in the KoP? We could grease our gearboxes with it and every finals match could smell like bacon.

Re: 6621 BIG Announcement!!

Dear All,

First off, WOW! I never expected such an overwhelmingly positive response from the community. I will definitely be posting team updates weekly due to the amount of attention this has received. I have seen some people delve quite deep into the chemical composition and makeup of lard due to my statement about clear lard. The reason clear lard is looked down upon in our areas is because it shows a sign of advanced filtration, whereas people actually prefer no filtration above a certain threshold in order to retain greater flavor, texture balance, and viscosity, among other things. If anyone was doubting the existence of Piztons, Inc., let me direct you to their website (which I do admit is a bit hard to find).

Moving on... the contract was not directly copied by me in order to keep sensitive information private. I have shared only the most relevant bits, as I thought transparency would be better in this scenario. I have also emailed Dean Kamen for more information regarding our team and its future, as I may have confused myself a bit.

Piztons is also allowing us to use our team website as a subdomain of Piztons official website! This will save about 47% of our budget for the month as calculated by my friend Steven. We should have the team website up and running in a week or so.

Lastly, I have seen a reply or two about the population of Moose Creek not being large enough to support an FRC team. I'd like to state that Moose Creek directly borders North Pole, AK, which has a much larger population, many of whom attend my same high school in Moose Creek.

Once again, feel free to ask any questions and I will answer them as soon as possible! :] :] :]

Bless you all,
Hunter Stanford

I'm not sure I like this: corn dogs, cheesecake and lard.
