yay for ramp riot~

i had a lot of fun at ramp riot, though i felt *entirely useless*. i felt really bad about that, too, but it seemed like no one needed helping. i need to get more involved.

heh, today instead of floppy disks, my mom said "ramp riots". it seems to occupy everyone's minds...

ooh, and i forgot to mention that i really dug the duct-taped jackets! how did those of you wearing them go about making them?

that was well... a bit scary... after the first final match, and we walked on to the field to pick up the bots.... you could see a bunch of people scurrying to stick their heads inside their machines to make sure they were ok

and the smell was tremendous....i think the whole gym had smelt it by the end....u know its a good match when u can smell the aftermath :p

yeah, when 222 was pushing it, I saw the smoke, and I had to blink a couple of times. I have never seen that happen before, meaning a robot start smoking during a match, and when I said it no one believed me until after the match and you could smell it.
RR so for is the most memorable competitions I've been to: twisting of the moe arm, and smoking robot - whoa.

team222badbrad 05-11-2002 11:21

HEY it still worked!!!

We had teams asking us left and right what was wrong!!!

The MAGIC smoke came from our elevator lift, it was the first time we ever had to replace it!!!!!!

Everything else is fine, our tape motor was allready burnt partly!

It wasn't really too hard. I found an old jacket in a thrift shop for $3 then bought 2 rolls of duct tape for $4...the cheap K-Mart Tartran stuff seems to work good because it's light and not too stiff. I started by taping the coat to my wall to get a flat surface for the back. I then cut long strips of tape and stuck them to the coat. When I finished the back, I took it off the wall and spread it out on the floor and started with the front. I basically just did everything that was flat and straight on the coat. Then I went to the sides which were awkward due to the collar and sleeve. After that, I went to the arm which was definitly the hardest part of the entire process. It took a bit of work to get them all on straight. I finished it up by patching the shoulders, underarm, collor, and anything else I missed.

I recommend a striped coat to duct-tape. Having something to line up with is incredibly nice.

http://evulish.is-a-geek.net/digicam/fashion <-- pics of my suit in progess (not in order...hehe)...The site's only up when I'm on the computer. So check it quickly :P

Dave_222 05-11-2002 17:15

That's what happens when you're hidden behind some mats controlling a portable TV station for three cameras and a laptop... I don't even have a clue about what happened to Miss Daisy all day long..

two lousy months until the new season... (looks at calendar in disbelief)
