Aignam 02-11-2002 20:55

does anybody happen to have any pictures or, preferably, video clips of 365 getting "mo'mauled" by 303?

does anybody happen to have any pictures or, preferably, video clips of 365 getting "mo'mauled" by 303?

YOU forgot a team!!! dont forget team 222, we helped!!!

for moe: (we are sorry, I like how you guys are cool about things, like major breakage of your bot!) you gave a nice award to team 303! lol

Bad BRAD (know you really know i am bad!!!!!!!)

Joe3 02-11-2002 21:26

ACTUALLY, while our wing looked horrible on the field, the amazing pit crew and I could have had the robot on the field back on the field, ready to grab 3 goals for our next match. We had it all straightened out and everything, at least so that it functioned. But yea, we don't mind getting bent as long as it's legit. You guys were actually pushing on a goal. What we get upset about it when teams just run into our wings for no reason. Nice job guys, and cogratulations to teams 84, 25, and 357!!

camtunkpa 02-11-2002 21:37

Congrats to all teams

Ramp Riot was by far one of the best competitions our team has seen in a long time!!!! We put out the warning ahead of time that we were unleashign our secret weapon and our complete team followed suit with a complete newbie team winning a match. we had great rounds with 303 and wish 145 coulda joined in te fun, but all in alll it was a great time!!!! I jsut have one word to say...... PINEAPPLE!!!!!

Hope to see you all at Brunswick....we hafta talk our head advisor into it, but I think we can convince him 303 and 22 have some unfinished business,.....lol

camtunkpa 02-11-2002 21:42

disclaimer....

the above posting shows the spelling skills after a full day of robotics and yeah....I meant 222....lol

Yes yes, Team 22 you played a great game too!

Mike8519 02-11-2002 22:29

Hey guys, I'm Mike the driver from team 303. I finally took time to registor for the forums yay!

I can't believe that you Moe guys actually could fix that arm that quick... it looked completely busted... But this nice piece of green metal sitting in front of me is pretty cool :) . Thanks for being so cool about it. I thought we had pissed you guys off pretty bad. I feared for my safety lol.

Congrats to Our friends in North Brunswick and their allies. We'll hopefully see you all at the Brunswick Eruption.

PINEAPPLE!!!:D

MissDaisyGirl 02-11-2002 22:40

in response to those that want video and/or pics of moe being mutilated: we'll have that up on our website this wk, i'm just too tired to do it now but you know how we had that video screen up all day? well we did a slow-mo of it (haha...mo, ok i'm really tired now) and we have it all on tape so we'll try to get that up if you guys wanna see it again. howd u like our awesome video system (besides the fact it was a little blurry due to excess cable linkage)?? i worked on that, so self-esteem boosters are always welcomed. thanks to all who came and thanks to all who bought food! i hope that moe dude is enjoying his xbox!!

Wayne C. 02-11-2002 22:52

Ramp Riot- whoa what a day!!

Some more 2 cents from Mr. C.-

First congratulations and thanks to Chuck and Royal Assault for playing the game to the max and being great partners.

And congrats to our friends at 303 and their partners 222 for putting up a real battle. I thought we were in trouble when 303 pushed us halfway down the field there!

And more thanks to the Wissahickon crew for hosting such a grand event. Your gym was terrific for this! And your students really helped us out as we hand loaded the field onto the truck for the next event on Nov. 23rd.

Everybody will be talking about the infamous 303 arm twist for some time to come. It was great that the Miracle Workerz were such good sports about it and presented the mangled piece to the Panthers as a trophy. If I know those guys, that armature will be right in the front of the trophy case for some time.

And for all those readers on teams from outside the Northeast just a note- DD was the third off season competition team 25 has attended since the Nationals. I think many will agree that the pace, the strategy and the excitement have only gotten better with each successive event.

November 23rd we play the last game of Zone Zeal at the Brunswick Eruption! With nothing left to lose and robots in their final chance for glory can you image what will happen next! There will be 14 trophies up for grabs and lots of old friends and rivals playing their 2002 robots for the final time. I can hardly wait!

WC

evulish 02-11-2002 23:14

Awesome competition. I thank the person who added an extra spot to the competition just for Chuck. That was, I must say, the best off-season competition we have attended. This is most likely our last competition for this robot (meaning we most likely won't be attending New Brunswick...sorry!) But wow...that was fun. Thanks to teams 25 and 357; couldn't have done it without you :) And Tunkhannok, nice try :D Muah. Just imagine if you rode on our bus...hehe. The competition there was probably harder than many regionals. What a great lineup of teams and some excellent alliances were chosen.

Ohh yeah, 303...nice to have you in the Mo'Maulin club :) We got ours in Tunkhannok at the PA robotics challenge.

And HA to Ashley! I posted first :D

Oh yeah...and any comments on the jacket? :-P

Wayne C. 02-11-2002 23:20

Oh yeah...and any comments on the jacket? :-P

- surprisingly stylish and delightfully adhesive

of course this is from a guy with a beat up cowboy hat and shoes with holes in the sides...........

evulish 02-11-2002 23:40

and mildly warm :) phew.

JudyVandy 02-11-2002 23:48

Ramp Riot

And did you see that we had two of those shiny, really stick-to-it jackets...

Even I beat Ashley tonight!

Ashley Weed 03-11-2002 00:10

Well, after I noticed that everyone beat me to the forums..... *sorry* I was busy being questioned by my overexcited mother!

A special thanks to 357..... and even an extra special thanks to 25. As a team 84 'driver team', we have accomplished many great feats. After a very rigorous year, with many ups and a few downs, we have finally achieved our prime goal. 25 - we tried hard the first time around, and found it was not our destiny.... however, when the opportunity arose today to have another shot at victory, we were glad you were there.

On a more personal note....
Grant, I know it was not the easiest, or probably greatest job as coming in for our coach.... you helped meet excellence at the Maryland State Fair, and thank you once again for your greatness and helpfulness.
Rob, (I know you are reading ;) ), what an unbelievable adventure. No matter what comes in the future, it doesn't get much better than this.... 541 long days + 80 matches driving + 6 competitive competitions =...... the achievement of a "CHAMPION" title.

Thank you to all teams at the competition. 341 - it was an excellent event, thank you for the special actions taken to help us get there.

It’s been 22 long hours since sleep…. Signing off….

MrsT 03-11-2002 09:24

GREAT event yesterday!!

Nice video screen w/ blimp cam, very well-organized, original lunch-time entertainment, fun & spirited teams, AND a community service component - can drive!!!

Competitionwise 225 didn't fair so well.....just one great 102 pt match with our double zoner........but our flock of freshmen had a great time!

Very nice. Thanks 341 and congratulations on the $30K sponsorship!

Lisa T :)

Firewolf 03-11-2002 10:11

yes, that was one intense day.
During that last round, I was sure we were going to have to play a third round for the win.
303 and 222 gave me such a fright,
but the drivers from 84 and 357 really showed some violet vigor, and when we won, I just kinda stood there, in shock and confusion.
Once again, great job to EVERYONE and I hope to see you all at our mini competition, Brunswick Eruption!!

Ashley Weed 03-11-2002 10:36

Well after a well-deserved 10 hours of sleep, I have awoken to remnant memories of the day. After my sad findings that my anti-technology father did not use my digi camera, and did not realize there was not any film in the camera he was using, I find that all pictures have been lost. Please, anyone at all who has pictures of team 84 in action, the finals, or of the Championship alliance photo e-mail me at weedie@epix.net or upload them to Delphi. Thank you.

357 has video of all of our matches and finals....but our digi cam died early in the morning due to low battery...and i forgot in the confusion of the morning to grab an extra set....so if ne1 has 357 in action please email them to me @ smallmanjoe@yahoo.com ....thanks so ver much

that's a great idea...

we have like twelve tapes from all angles so if anyone has a special request (moe's arm is already on the to-do list) just post here...

what made my day was looking at the overhead cam's film of moe's arm... it looked just postively awesome.. (moe- no insult intended- you guys were the team to beat and your speed at reparing that dreaded wing was incredible)

man... never knew I could be so tired.. thank y'all for coming- you made it exciting

Hey guys,

Ramp Riot was awesome. AND yes we did fix it incredibly fast and I must give a lot of credit to our pit crew, you guys are awesome. Now one tool that all teams need is a bear, we needed a little extra muscle bending the grabber back, so we used my dad, who did it barehanded. Team 303 way to go, there are def not any hard feelings, we love it when a team can do it legit(as joe said).

And for the footage you've all been waiting for, i have it, courtside as it happens. All i need is to give it to Alex on monday and he will post it on our site. (for those who dont know www.moe365.org)

Way to go to the champions, you guys were runnin strong all day. I really love how you guys can take such a beating and run strong, it shows how much work you really put into it all.

Carlo

RAMP RIOT, THANK YOU TEAMS!!!

To All Ramp Riot Participants:

THANK YOU for coming to Ramp Riot and being so enthusiastic all day long. We really appreciate your involvement and the many offers of assistance. What makes a competition great is the TEAMS and we try not to forget that. Last week, when we reviewed the list of teams that were coming, we knew we would have a great day. Everthing else, the music and prizes, are just extra.

We obviously want to make sure we show our appreciation to the sponsors that helped make this happen. So if you are inclined to write a note of appreciation here are some folks that helped us pull this off. I know you are busy people so if you feel you can only write one note and copy all of them that would be OK.

Christine Miller, Rohm & Haas , christine_m_miller@rohmhaas.com

Amy Bartley, BAE Systems, amy.bartley@baesystems.com

Mike Wade, NASA Goddard SFC, mwade@mscmail.nasa.gov

Louisa Hanshew & Carol Kauffman, FIRST Philadelphia, Llhanshew@aol.com

Patrick Schmidt, Radio Station Y-100, patrick@y100.com

If you do write these people a note please copy me as well.

I will send a note, very soon , about numbers and stats from Ramp Riot, but right now I have 2 weeks of grades to catch up on.

Thanks again for your support and Best of Luck during the upcoming season!!

first of all major props to 341 for holding another kick @$$ competition. (keep doing it. it's really fun) did anyone try that robot balancing thingy. that was so darn easy. (and iwasnt even here that year). anyway, MOE, if you noticed alot of MOE sticks were missing... dont worry they are in the good hands of some team 87 members. (me included) i also got to work our switchbox three times!!! that was really fun.

Ack. Is your dad still alive? :D (Erm...I'm scared to know the answer :-P) I, sadly, can't provide any pictures...due to my busy-ness that day...and, well, the lack of my digital camera. I forgot a lot of stuff that day. De had some pictures and I know Mrs. V did. And after that last match...wow...I thought I was going to get flung against the control board with that massive hug...I've also never been picked up that high before by one person (Mr. Volcano)...hehe.

--

Also...I'd like to request the last 2 matches of the competition.

Well...I am not well enough to atually verbally speak to people today.... I should of been in the hospital instead of at the Ramp Riot. So, right now the only yelling is my mom yelling at my dad.
I called De, and she only took like 4 pictures, I e-mailed the list in hopes that someone would have pictures.
You thought you were going to get flung against the control board???? I was flung against the control board and the entire wall in the player station..... I've never been hugged that hard before. ;)

Hey everyone. This is Mark from 303 and I was the co-piolet. Just saying that the ramp riot experience was the best. Even though we took 10th place and got 2 in the finals, it is still cool. Anyway also just saying sorry to mo for the loss of arm, it just happened. I am hoping that every team tries to make it to the Brunswick Eruption, because it will be the bomb. Also take a look at the picture i got, mo guys and gals take a good look at it. Finally good luck to all and if you guys get video of the ripping of the arm send it around to everyone. Thanks bye.

IMPORTANT ADDRESS CORRECTION for NASA

To All Ramp Riot Participants:

The address that I gave you for NASA might have been an old one. It is extremely important that Mike Wade receive our thanks. It is His field that made MD Fair, DoD, Ramp Riot and North Brunswick possible. We can't ignore His efforts. Please try this address if the other one fails.

( mwade@mscmail.gsfc.nasa.gov )

Let Mike know that we appreciate his dedication to the cause. Thank you for doing this.

Ramp Riot 2002

On behalf of team 103's drivers, Mike Williams, Zac Louden, human player Andrew Pucci, and the rest of the team, I would like to thank 341 for hosting the 3rd annual Ramp Riot invitational. We all had a great time on Saturday and it was nice to see so many familiar faces at the competition. We would also like to thank our alliance partners, teams 365 and 484. You guys did a great job and we enjoyed working with you.

I would also like to thank teams 84 and 272 for helping us score the two highest scoring matches of the competition. With the help of team 84, Chuck, we scored a match of 126 and with 272 we scored the all-day high of 129. And finally, thank you to all the teams for making this event such a great experience!

We will see as many of you as possible at eruption and yes we will have the pineapple there to share in the glory that is first!!!! if you have any questions about that dont be afraid to ask there really is a quite simple explenation for that. oh wait noo there isnt, we dont even know why we were doing that! See you all on the 23rd!!!!!!!!! :D :D

THANK YOU....

I hope to see all of you at our high school for the regional kickoff event in our auditorium...its gonna be mad fun...

Speaking of smoked motors we burned our fisher price motor out so bad it isnt even funny that thing still stinks we have reports of people smelling it all the way up on the top floor of the gym!!

OneAngryDaisy 04-11-2002 18:36

Yeah- I gotta agree with y'all that RR was the best competition I've been to.. And don't worry- It'll be even better next year. We're acually already making plans..

(grabs himself at the throat)
Will the season ever end? Will this excessive sleep deprivation ever end?

Mike8519 04-11-2002 19:14

On a side note: did anyone get the MOE arm bending footage up yet?

OneAngryDaisy 04-11-2002 19:47

HEY all

I hope to get some still pics up and video footage up soon

(just got footage, brand new camcorder, and software tonight)

gotta figure out how to use it possibly get it up by tonight or tommarrow!!!

OneAngryDaisy 04-11-2002 22:26

true true.. there's really no sleep at all..

some slight calculations:
VA regional: 3 days- 72 hours
Drexel: 3 days- 72 hours
Nationals: 4 days- 96 hours
PA robotics challenge: 1 day- 24 hours
MD state fair: 3 days- 72 hours
Duel on the Delaware: 1 day- 24 hours
Ramp Riot: 3 days- 72 hours

Wayne C. 04-11-2002 22:28

and for BE- sleep now because you won't be sleeping later!!!!

OneAngryDaisy 04-11-2002 22:29

(don't you just hate it when you press tab and it automatically reverts to the "submit reply" button)

some slight calculations:
VA regional: 3 days- 72 hours
Drexel: 3 days- 72 hours
Nationals: 4 days- 96 hours
PA robotics challenge: 1 day- 24 hours
MD state fair: 3 days- 72 hours
Duel on the Delaware: 1 day- 24 hours
Ramp Riot: 3 days- 72 hours

Grand total: 432 hours

I get a average of 4 hours of sleep every night, thus I have spent more time at robotics competitions this year than I have spent in bed for the past 108 days.. Amazing, huh?

thats what i was referring to...u were the only smokie there

daisychan 05-11-2002 02:12

yay for ramp riot~

i had a lot of fun at ramp riot, though i felt *entirely useless*. i felt really bad about that, too, but it seemed like no one needed helping. i need to get more involved.

heh, today instead of floppy disks, my mom said "ramp riots". it seems to occupy everyone's minds...

daisychan 05-11-2002 02:14

that was well... a bit scary... after the first final match, and we walked on to the field to pick up the bots.... you could see a bunch of people scurrying to stick their heads inside their machines to make sure they were ok

and the smell was tremendous....i think the whole gym had smelt it by the end....u know its a good match when u can smell the aftermath :p

Firewolf 05-11-2002 11:14

yeah, when 222 was pushing it, I saw the smoke, and I had to blink a couple of times. I have never seen that happen before, meaning a robot start smoking during a match, and when I said it no one believed me until after the match and you could smell it.
RR so for is the most memorable competitions I've been to: twisting of the moe arm, and smoking robot - whoa.

team222badbrad 05-11-2002 11:21

HEY it still worked!!!

We had teams asking us left and right what was wrong!!!

The MAGIC smoke came from our elevator lift, it was the first time we ever had to replace it!!!!!!

Everything else is fine, our tape motor was allready burnt partly!

It wasn't really too hard. I found an old jacket in a thrift shop for $3 then bought 2 rolls of duct tape for $4...the cheap K-Mart Tartran stuff seems to work good because it's light and not too stiff. I started by taping the coat to my wall to get a flat surface for the back. I then cut long strips of tape and stuck them to the coat. When I finished the back, I took it off the wall and spread it out on the floor and started with the front. I basically just did everything that was flat and straight on the coat. Then I went to the sides which were awkward due to the collar and sleeve. After that, I went to the arm which was definitly the hardest part of the entire process. It took a bit of work to get them all on straight. I finished it up by patching the shoulders, underarm, collor, and anything else I missed.

I recommend a striped coat to duct-tape. Having something to line up with is incredibly nice.

http://evulish.is-a-geek.net/digicam/fashion <-- pics of my suit in progess (not in order...hehe)...The site's only up when I'm on the computer. So check it quickly :P

Ashley Weed 05-11-2002 16:52

I feel so loved......

purplehaze357 05-11-2002 17:09

hm....weedie i think you might need to revise the banner in your signitre...you might need to add something...hehehe

the duct tape jacket was amazing...it was complete with buttons and all...im very much imressed...now if u were to make a suit out of it and go to a dance (not reccommending it be done), thatd be mad cool....
:)

Dave_222 05-11-2002 17:15

Yeah like bad brad said it still worked that robot is imortal we only replaced it so it would work better for eruption.

That's what happens when you're hidden behind some mats controlling a portable TV station for three cameras and a laptop... I don't even have a clue about what happened to Miss Daisy all day long..

two lousy months until the new season... (looks at calendar in disbelief)

I had a lot of fun. As far as I could tell it was a very competitive competition. I would also like to give a special thanks to team 357 and Team 25 for being such great alliance partners and I look forward to competing at the Brunswick Eruption.

heres a pic of the infamous mauling of Moe by 303. Hey- is that arm supposed to move like that?

Miraculously they had the old arm off and repaired in a matter of minutes. Go Moe!!

grr!

I'm going crazy!!! I can't post from home (my computer won't log me in for some strange reason... anyone know why?) and haven't been able to get to the computers at school enough to actually post since RR! AHH!!
oh, about wearing duct tape suits to the dances, supposedly the duct tape creators will give you a scholarship if you and your date wear duct tape outfits to the dance. Daisygurl, do you know more about that, as you and jared were considering it?
By the way... anyone from moe on here have the email address of the Kyle that was obsessing about petting the daisy-head at Ramp Riot and Duel on the Delaware?
Thank you to all the teams that came! I know I'm probably the hundredth person to say this, but it was a GREAT time! Also, special thanks to all who participated in the dancing, especially Cotton Eyed Joe. Can we ensure it is played at Brunswick? Please? hehe!
ok, until the next time I get to post, byes!

hahahahahha

a person who won RR has been walking around my (and for that matter, her) school. It makes me laugh. hahaha. there i have that out of my system. Hahahha i guess not. No really she's carrying around a five-pound trophy around our school. And balloons with candy. Her arms must be tired...wait a minute iu just asked her...she's only had it for five minutes...or more, whatever. She is sitting right next to me...sucking my brainwaves out by process of osmosis...or diffusion Screw biology!

evulish 06-11-2002 15:00

That's...uhh...the exact same size :)

If you don't mind...upload that group pic here: http://evulish.is-a-geek.net/chuck/upload.html please :) (There will be a lot of verbose crap since I wrote that in about 5 minutes a few months ago)

I'd like it on my webpage...

(I'd like the big one if possible)

Thanks

Wayne C. 06-11-2002 15:03

sorry guys- that is the biggest pic the thread will allow- unless you know something better

evulish 06-11-2002 15:08

http://evulish.is-a-geek.net/cgi-bin...der=off_season

That won't be up for too much longer today. It'll be up until about 5pm EST. Sorry :)

(Thanks for upping the pic!)

Brandon Martus 06-11-2002 15:09

I'd rather have people use the image gallery, rather than the 'attach' feature of the forums. It makes the backups smaller & faster. And you can view the attachment in the image gallery, as opposed to JUST this thread.

The 'attach' feature is good for stuff that pertains to just the thread topic, and wouldn't be helpful to anybody browsing the galleries. This, since it has to do with the Ramp Riot competition (as well as this thread), would fit perfectly in the Ramp Riot gallery.

Wayne C. 06-11-2002 16:07

Sorry Brandon- I agree. I put a bunch of pix in the gallery for folks to look at. The file size for the thread makes the pix just too small.

Would everyone check to see if they have any different shots of the mass champion alliance photo - - the one posted is really good, but most of our team is not visible..... you can post it or e-mail me at weedie@epix.net Thanks!
