- see above. a very large chunk of whats been said in the past 7 pages applies to me. :p

even the 3:00am phone calls to Jason?

-dave (who promises not to mention our respective lack of lives any more, but will periodically make obscure references to the fact that both of us need better things to do at 3:00am)

---------------------------------

still a curmedgeon, by all definitions

a friend of mine fell asleep while I was talking to him on the phone once.

That about sums up how boring (geeky) I am.

I'm a geek for far to many reasons. I have my varsity jacket for FIRST. I base my life off my electronics. I will easily sit online for hours on end and talk to my friends instead of ever picking up the phone. I got a 6 inch long, 1 inch wide band of metal splinters in my hand/wrist and was able to laugh it off and make a "good thing i had my saftey glasses on" joke.

My bookcase is 75% programming books. The other 25% is equally divided between math books and Cisco networking books.

I've been working on the Linux version of RoboEmu since 9:00 this morning. It's currently 9:10pm.

You have to go through two different boot managers to get to Win98 on my computer.

I caught myself writing an essay with parenthesis every few lines (thanks, Scheme!).

Dogbert is sitting on top of my monitor right now.

My computer's audio system is more powerful/has more speakers than my TV's.

I have a OI and an RC sitting next to me.

I use Pro/Desktop for everything.

I have a t-shirt from Metrowerks (the people who make CodeWarrior) that says, "Blood, Sweat, and Code."

I can name every option for every command in PBASIC--literally.

I'm taking math (Calc IV) and physics II next semester just for the fun if it.

oh, but are the computers in your house named after the dilbert characters? my win2k server is Dogbert (because it was the first server we set up, and since it "controlled" the network, what better name than Dogbert, who wants to control the world? :p). my second server, running debian (which i set up all by myself, along with some help from joe and jim :)) is called Catbert, because i needed another name, and i felt like keeping in theme with what my dad started. then, i was fooling around on my computer, and found where to set the computer name (XP has it all jumbled, so i never looked until i stumbled across it) and figured why not go with the flow, and i named it Ratbert. then, when i made it dual boot with gentoo, i also kept the ratbert thing. now, all i have to do is go around to the other computers and name them. just haven't gotten a chance yet :). and yes, that's probably the plan for my weekend.

My planned computer scheme is:

My current desktop is: g0d
My server (when I find a hdd) will be: j3sus
This laptop will be: m0ses
The computer after that will be g3nesis and so on.

I'm pretty much unreligious but bible names are cool! :)

I just got my shipment in from hackerthreads.com :) Three shirts that say 'Frag This!' 'Apache' and 'Python' The sad thing is...I don't know python, the shirt was just cool :P

I've named all my computers after Aphex Twin tracks...

Phloam, a Win2k box.
Quoth, Debian server.
Flaphead, Debian laptop.
Ziggomatic, Debian box of some sort.
Ventolin, SparcStation IPX.

Can anyone think up a good Aphex Twin track title for an Apple Performa 6200CD?

Ashley Weed 10-11-2002 08:15

:p I'm even geekier...... I named my computer after my robot!!!! Chuck N. Moose

Hailfire 10-11-2002 13:38

-I spend most of my time in front of this computer.
-I spend 50% of the time playing computer games. Particularly Westwood Studios's games. :D
-I spend 20% of the time doing school work on the computer.
-I spend 30% of the time using 3dsmax.
-I used to play video games 10 hours a day. Particularly with the Nintendo GameCube.
-I read everything technology related but still I don't know everything about technology.

I guess you could say I'm a real tech geek. lol.

P.S. What is DDR?
