11/23/02 Robotics Workshop

Register for 11/23/02 Robotics Workshop by emailing
Nancy
We are planning an intensive all day robotics workshop for Saturday, Nov.23, at CSUN. We will be having sessions on motors, drive systems, pneumatics, robotic arms and lifts, electronics and IFI controllers, CAD, animation, team organization, Chairman's award, robotics curriculum, etc. There will be morning sessions and afternoon sessions. It is suggested that mentors, teachers, and students attend. Team representative should divide up to attend all topics, and then share their knowledge with their team. We will also have a poster session where teams can share specific information on a robotic component, programming trick, great fund raiser, any ideas or activities that might assist other teams. This would be a great opportunity for students to be the experts.

SCRRF thank you note

11/24/02 I attended the event this Saturday at CSUN. My two younger daughters are on a FIRST Lego League team and they very much enjoyed the Lego League scrimmage. My older daughter is part of the Beach Bot FIRST robot team and she was there as a running and to attend the seminars. My daughter and I both attended the Autodesk seminar and we both gleaned a great deal from this class. She was at the morning seminar that was packed and I attended the afternoon session. In the evening my daughter and I sat down and created a box looking robot and a fairly primative goal and were able to create a 3 second video of the robot moving about the goal. All of this from a 3 hour tutorial. I would very much like to thank Glen Stevenson, he did anexcellent job, for making the presentation and all of the folks from SCRRF would made the seminars possible. Rob Steele

Is there a place where the tutorials from the workshop can be accessed so that members of our team could benefit from your workshop even though we are on the opposite coast?

Thanks!

The workshops were videotaped. As soon as they're online in streaming video, I'll let you know.

I used the same presentation as last year. It is already posted here in the White Papers section under:

Lifts and Arms from SCRRF Workshops 12/15/01

Actually there is more here than I presented. I didn't realize I'd lost a few viewgraphs until I got to the end of the pitch and they weren't there.:o I'd planned on using a computer projection system so I didn't check the stone age version beforehand. The version here has the missing viewgraphs.
