Southern California Regional Robotics Forum
Articles of Association Preamble We, the members of the Southern California Regional Robotics Forum (SCRRF), in order to: 1) inspire and excite young people about the accessibility, fun, and importance of math, science, engineering, and manufacturing; 2) provide a means for community support for additional educational and career awareness endeavors; 3) provide training and mentorship for students, teachers, and professional volunteers; and 4) provide local robotics competitions and activities for regional schools; do hereby establish these Articles of Association for the Southern California Regional Robotics Forum. Article I: Name The name of this organization is the Southern California Regional Robotics Forum. Article II: Membership The Southern California Regional Robotics Forum is open to all high school robotics teams from the southwest United States. A one time team registration fee of $100 will help cover SCRRF operating expenses, and provide the team with a discounted entry fee to local robotics competitions. All registered teams will have one vote in all SCRRF elections and meetings. Article III: Board of Directors Section A. Members: The Board of Directors will consist of a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a Development Director, and an Events Director. Section B. Duties: The duties of the Board Members shall be to ensure that the goals of the Association are carried out by overseeing the management and activities of the Association. Each Board member will have one vote in all SCRRF elections and meetings. President: The President shall run the meetings, prepare the meeting agenda, and oversee the Association activities. Vice President: The Vice President shall assist the President with Association meetings and activities, and serve as Parliamentarian for the Association. Secretary: The Secretary shall record the minutes at all Association meetings, handle all required Association correspondence, and administer proxy voting at Association meetings as necessary. Treasurer: The Treasurer shall oversee the financial matters of the Association, including checking deposits and withdrawal, financial reports, tax reports, and audits. Development Director: The Development Director shall oversee the solicitation of corporate sponsorship and preparation and submission of grant requests for the Association. Events Director: The Events Director shall oversee and coordinate all local and regional robotics events and activities sponsored by the Association. Section C. Elections: The Board Members will be elected by majority vote of the members at the first official meeting after September 1, annually. In the event that a Board Member must relinquish their position, an interim member will be elected by a majority vote at the earliest subsequent meeting of the Association. Proxy votes for all elections must be sent by email to the Secretary by the day prior to the meeting at which the election or vote is held. IV: Association Meetings Association meetings will be held monthly, and may be called as urgent needs arise. All meetings are open to Association members. The meetings will be conducted according to Robert’s Rules of Order. V: Ad hoc Committees Section A. Purpose: The purpose of the ad hoc Committees is to organize and direct activities, events, and functions for the Association. Section B. Membership: Ad hoc Committees shall consist of (a) chairperson(s) who volunteer or are appointed by the Board and any members who wish to volunteer to serve on the committee. VI: Ratification These Articles of Association shall be effective upon approval by two-thirds vote of the members at the first official meeting after September 1, 2002. |
