FIRST is once again challenging our Community to help us #makeitloud! The #FIRSTParody competition was so awesome last year, we can't wait to see what you come up with this year! If you participated last year, we invite you to make a NEW video, and if you didn't join us last year – what are you waiting for?!

Overview:
We’re celebrating what makes FIRST FIRST! Tell us what makes your experience in our programs so amazing! Ultimately, we want to see awesome, high-quality parody videos that embody the spirit of FIRST and our Progression of Programs . To see last year’s submissions, check out our playlist. If you haven’t seen it, make sure to watch last year’s winning parody video One Bot Can Change The World by Jordan Grant. He was even able to perform live at the 2016 FIRST Championship!

Jordan Grant - One Bot Can Change the World

Eligibility:
Any group or individual who is interested in helping #makeitloud- Participants, Mentors, Volunteers, Sponsors, Alumni, - anyone!

Expectations:
Submissions must be between 0:30 and 3:30 in length.

We encourage you to caption your video so viewers can see the lyrics.

Use your best judgement to keep your video in line with FIRST Values! Submissions should capture the FIRST Mission as an organization, rather than focus on just one program or experience.

Deadline:
Video submission must be uploaded to YouTube by Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 5pm (EST).

Award/Distribution:
Selection of the winning submission will take place in December 2016. The winning submission will be played at many FIRST events throughout the 2016/2017 Season, including, but not limited to, FIRST LEGO League Regional Championships and FIRST LEGO League Jr. Expos, FIRST Tech Challenge Super Regionals, FIRST Robotics Competition Regionals and District Events, and FIRST Championships. The winning submission will also enjoy seeing the parody video on the big screen at the FIRST Championships in 2017!

Please be aware that by submitting a video to this contest, FIRST reserves the right to use the video in any way, without additional permissions.
What do you guys think? When I read that, I rushed as fast as I could to make the worst possible parody... And here it is! After about 15 mins of work :

...one of my least favorite parts of the 2016 competition season.
Listening to poorly made parodies was NOT better than YMCA and Cupid Shuffle. And that's saying something.

I attempted to make mine even worse then all that were made before... Just for you :)

Actiually, I agree, I don't like those really much either...

IMO it depended on the parody. Some were good, like this one that was played on Einstein.

I think I must have lucked out at my events, because they were good. Going through the playlist now, half of them are, er, not so masterful.

I've been planning to make a parody before they announced this second competition so I guess I have a head start –– but that isn't much. The parody is of Rap God by Eminem (and is taking a lot of effort). The discouraging thing is I would like to make the parody full length, but that's about 2-3 minutes over the maximum length and I'm not sure how to approach that yet. It's just frustrating for me because I want to be able to make the best product possible with it but the time cap restricts that for "official rules." Perhaps the part that bugs me is that the "FRC Rhapsody" Parody that everyone adores is six minutes but FIRST is restricted that epic-esque feeling with the 3:30 time restriction IMO.

I'll probably to the full version of the parody and then, possibly, make a submission edition, but that's a lot of work for diminishing the song. Again, this is just my opinion and tried to express it as cleanly and articulately as possible.

If regionals showed reveal videos/regional recap videos at competitions during downtime, that would be way more interesting (in my opinion). Heck, they could just show game animations and old match footage from several years back, too.

Honestly, I think its a noble goal to push teams to do media work and video production, but there are far more challenging and interesting ways to do it besides lip-syncing and closet recordings.

I agree, I want them to show Chairman's Award videos. Why is it just the one winning team that gets their video showed. All the teams are doing great work, let's highlight those accomplishments.

Wow... I totally agree with you on that point... I think that those parodies should be made for fun and that only a few of them (preferably the best) be showcased...

I'm personally against Chairman's videos during competition/breaks because they require attention (you can't just kinda sorta listen to it with one ear). However, robot reveal videos would be awesome (especially those of the teams attending); you could glance over once in a while and listen to it in the background.

That's a really nice idea! And it could help the public understand the functions of the different robots and recognize them on the field...

That would be nice between playoff matches, if you did the top 2 teams of each alliance, under FUN reveal rules (1:30 max) it would fit nicely into the 6 minute break. (you could fit all 6 robots in if they were edited slightly to cut out all the shots of drilling)
