Actually, they'll be dropping Midwest and are working very hard on funding... Things are specially ugly this year in Brazil, money-wise...

awww.... I was hoping to see them at Midwest. Darn. Everybody's in that kind of situation though. I can't blame them.

We're so darn tight on funding that we're our advisors are promoting recycling of used extrusion. Everybody's funds are tight.

The reason there are so many Georgia rookies this year is the combined efforts of NASA grants and students at Georgia Tech. NASA is giving out $6000 grants to teams going to the Peachtree Regional, and GT is sponsoring about 10 teams this year. This isn"t making our chances for Rookie All-Star look that great, but at least it will be a fun regional to take part in, as there will be utter chaos at most times. We"re even thinking about mentoring another team (who says rookies can"t be mentors?)

...too bad there isn"t a smilie icon for maniacal grins...

Erhm... somehow, I don't think that Georgia Tech is sponsoring 10 teams this year, fuffel. Perhaps *mentoring* with the "Technology Enrichment Sessions," persay, but not financially sponsoring.

Then again, what would I know?

Georgia Tech

Tunmin is right. The Georgia Tech group is not sponsoring ten teams, only two for this year. We have about 11 high schools attending our Technology Enrichment sessions (rookie training sessions). We are also helping with team recruitment for the regional so we are helping the other 20 rookies get started as well. Keeps us busy :D .

To all of the rookies:

Welcome,
Everyday you'll pass by open doors because they were too obscure or you were not sure of what to expect. FIRST will change your life, you can count on that. Cherish your days, your teammates, and your mentors; you cannot put a value to it. Six weeks are not a long time, don't waste them. Good Luck! If you ever need any help, remember this is FIRST-we live for helping each other. Don't be afraid to ask, but don't be shocked when you get 20 replies.:)
