Stats on the New Rookies

here are a few stats on this year's crop of rookie teams based on the counts from the various regionals

there are exactly 200 rookie teams registered in all of the regionals

the most rookies are in the Peachtree Regional with a total of 30

the least rookies are registered for the NYC regional with only 1

If there are 20 students per team that means about 4000 more kids have joined the FIRST family

Welcome!

And to randomly add to this thread:

Wisconsin has 3 Rookie Teams:

1064 Milwaukee School Of Engineering & Milwaukee Trade and Technical High School Milwaukee, WI USA

1091 Quest Technologies, Inc./HED Inc & Hartford Union High School Hartford, WI USA

1103 Blackwell Lakefront Services/Delavan Darien High School & Administrator/Delavan Darien High School Darien, WI USA

The state with the most rookie teams is, well I was going to go through the map on the FIRST page, but I then realized that would take way too much time.....Maybe later...

:D

New York??

it's crazy that New York only a few years ago had at least 80% rookie teams:eek:

I want to give a big CD welcome to team 1086, Deep Run High. If I didn't get the chance to stay at Tucker, I would have gone there.

HELLO!

Our rookie teams

Team 294 is mentoring the following 3 teams...
1047 Irvine, CA
Woodbridge High School

1115 Santa Monica, CA
Santa Monica High School & New Roads School

*no #, on LA Regional wait list* South High Torrance, CA

#848 is mentoring...
1105 Los Angeles, CA
USC MESA & Washington Prep HS

CA has 28 rookie teams registered, but our South High will hopefully be registered after getting NASA grant, and thus will be #29 CA rookie team.

Peachtree Regional Team List

I count 31 rookies.

Was that where you were looking, or was it elsewhere?

Ok, the Peachtree regional has rookies from other then GA.
Team 1196 of Discovery Clio, SC for example.

Thats the discrepancy.

*shrug* I think it's pertinent to the subject line.

The reason there are so many Georgia rookies this year is the combined efforts of NASA grants and students at Georgia Tech. NASA is giving out $6000 grants to teams going to the Peachtree Regional, and GT is sponsoring about 10 teams this year. This isn"t making our chances for Rookie All-Star look that great, but at least it will be a fun regional to take part in, as there will be utter chaos at most times. We"re even thinking about mentoring another team (who says rookies can"t be mentors?)

...too bad there isn"t a smilie icon for maniacal grins...

Across the Open Seas...

There's rookies from Germany, Brazil, and the UK coming to the J&J and Long Island regionals. Are there rookies from afar at your regional?
