-1 huh?? Maybe 1 would be more appropriate. Does this have some hidden meaning. Maybe Dean thinks that FIRST (1) is going to the negative side or something.

Just a thought, I'm probably just reading into it too much.

yea you are just reading into it too much. If you don't believe that e^(i*pi) is -1 then watch the Simpsons Halloween Special where Homer walks into the wall behind the book shelf to a 3rd dimension. In there it also states that it is -1. We all know Simpsons can't be wrong.

Okay, people, pet peeve time again:

It's a STIRLING engine. . . named after its inventor, Robert Stirling. Stirling. Sterling is a type of silver or fork and spoon or something valueless. Stirling is someone's last name. Please, at least give this guy the respect he deserves by spelling his last name correctly.

My team was filmed considerably during the NYC Regional as well. I didn't see us in any footage whatsoever. Whatever. There are more important things in life than being in television. Taking 60 minutes of footage is, by no means, extensive. They rarely will post long clips of anyone who's not well known.

Now, because it wouldn't be right if I didn't post at least one controversial topic -

Am I the only person that feels that, sometimes, Dean sounds very arrogant about certain things? I don't feel like listing particular examples, but sometimes, I'm a bit shocked by his tone. It's very condescending, seemingly.

Now, I've met Dean before at a few different instances, and I've never gotten that impression in person. . . and I've managed to talk with him at reasonably length, too. Maybe it's the direction of the interviews or something.

Leave it to M. Krass to make things a bit more colorful.

I have met Dean as well.
My opinion is that it's not arrogance, but nerves. Leave him alone eh?

MattK 14-11-2002 17:36

Finaly got the uncompressed VCD version of it on my FTP server. If someone could mirror it, that would be great.

ftp://66.31.80.243/

or directly to that folder ftp://66.31.80.243/Kamen/

P.s. The compressed version should be up later tonight

Seeing my team on something besides the local news was weird. It was us... but in higher resolution. We're reaching new levels.

And they showed the part where we broke the Beast. Ahh, that brought back memories.

Oh, and I got a chortle out of seeing Ogre hit the camera man. :D

Oh, certainly. I have a lot of respect for what he's managed to do, and I've had nothing but really pleasant, interesting conversations with him.

I don't mean to imply that he is genuinely arrogant. Maybe it is more of a function of the presentation than anything else? But, he seems to be someone who doesn't tolerate a lot of deviance or beating around the bush when it comes to discussing things that are important to him. That's fair, of course, but maybe he could handle keeping things 'on topic' more diplomatically?

...Don't you love incomplete thoughts?

Joe Matt 14-11-2002 18:26

I think it's attatude over TV and the media, how they treated him with Ginger and such. It's not his nature to be arrogant. I think he just hates the media and TV.

Why does everyone get the object wrong when they report the game and it's contents???? They said we picked up Volleyballs!

Can we please have a darn basketball or a football next year for the game piece or better yet, a more recognizable object, like maybe a cube or a pyramid?!?!?!?!?!?!

Without making dig up my Math books from 3 or 4 years ago, I believe -1 is an imaginary number in some mathmatics. I believe it's discrete math, or calculus III. It's been awhile. I think I'm thinking of the square root of -1, now that i"ve been thinking about it for a minute or so.

dk5sm5luigi 14-11-2002 19:07

yes the square root of -1 is imaginary. if you look in e^(i*pi) you will notice it includes i which is equal to the square root of -1.

Jnadke 14-11-2002 20:21

I woudn't say that he's conscending or arrogant...

I would rather say he's focused and belevolent. If you look at the answers he gave as Mr Rather was questioning him they were rather brilliant even though they were not thouroughly contemplated. These are straight-out questions, I doubt 60 minutes would tell what they are gonna ask him or give him second-chance responses. It's not journalistic.

I'd say he's a better speaker than most individuals today, especially better than our own monkey president.

Albeit his tactlessness at some topics, he gets the point accross and only the point unlike some individuals these days. In a world where you are overwhelmed with so much useless information, it's nice to get the point for a change.
