I think I'll pass up an Apple display. 17" NEC/Mitsu's are very nice (and a taaad bit cheaper) :)
Yup, that they are *shrug* but at the time this was also the cheapest 22# I could find :D

Cheers! To that new computer. You going to get a lian li case for it?

JUST DON'T GET BEIGE DRIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

evulish 12-11-2002 00:01

I'm not totally sure what kind of case. I happen to be partial to those Antec SOHO cases (seems like some other companies sell the samething...*shrug*). I just can't wait until the summer when I can actually buy this computer :D

OMFG I hate those cases.

I dunno they're just... UGLY!

*shrug* I'd go for a nice aluminum case, raidmax or lian-li, as those seem to be the best looking :D

Either way, don't go beige as that is hilariously old.

Beige will never die:D

evulish 12-11-2002 15:42

Good thing it's not beige then...I guess :)

I guess it's Chieftec. I dunno. There are a whole bunch of resellers for that case or something. Antec sells a silver one which is nice.

Does lian-li make any large cases? I'll probably be using 4 5.25" bays (1 cd/dvd reader, 1 cd-r/dvd-r, 1 zip, and 1 lcd display) and probably a few hard drives :)

dixonij 12-11-2002 16:05

my computer sucks. even though my stepdad just bought a 18.1 inch flatscreen Sony monitor. i have a gateway with a 866 mhz Pentium III processor, Windows Me, DVD/Rom drive (dont know the speed), CD/R/RW drive (dont know speed), and floppy drive. i have a Lexmark Z42 printer and a Logitech Wireless Optical mouse. thats right a Wireless Optical mouse. Now if only the computer were better i have pretty good extras (monitor, digital camera, printer, and mouse)

Wetzel 12-11-2002 17:03

That ain't a bad computer dude, just not great.

I got the 400 watt 4.1 Logitech speakers, a bit less then the Klipsch at $150.

All told, I spent $1300 on Philip

Athlon XP 1700+(1.47 OEM, overclocked to 1.53(1800+)
Soyo Dragon Plus mobo
256 DDR
DVD 16x
CD-R-Rw 16x10x40x
40gb 7200rpm HD
60gb 7200rpm HD
Logitech Z-560s 400watt 4.1 speakers
19in Trinitron flatscreen monitor
Smartcard reader:) (Read the credit cards with a chip on them)

Fattie was $150 and I've had her for a little more then a year now.

Laptop (Dell Latitude CPi)
P-II 350
128 ram
6gb hd
15" lcd
CDrom
USB
56K fax modem (GSM and ISDN compliant)
10mpbs lan card

All in all a fair value.

Athlons arn't any more likely to break then P4's, if you try and force it, pins can bend/break on both. And $2.5K for a monitor...you're nuts.

I have a vision for the future.. instead of investing in all that speaker and subwoofer stuff (I can thank my hearing impairment for that)- mah gonna get the best projector around and rig up an enormous screen... imagine playing Quake on a screen as big as your wall- you'd literally be playing with life-size people...

Haha. We got waaay off topic :D

Anyways...Here are my computers:

My sisters lovely WinXP machine with the Bliss background...then my linux box sitting next to it with Biohazard :D (too bad mine wasn't the black one!):
http://evulish.is-a-geek.net/digicam/2comps.jpg

My two old boxes are on the floor in parts...the desktop was scrapped (the keyboard controller was fried) but the 486dx4 that was in it is alright. The other case near the back is my P75 that only needs a hard drive.
http://evulish.is-a-geek.net/digicam/computers.jpg

My nazi laptop :D (take a close look at the keyboard)...it's an IBM Thinkpad 701c and I'm assuming it was given to us by Sylvania:

Those pics, as usual, won't be up for too long...they're on my computer.

So that's my computer arsenal + two boxes crammed with parts and some dead peices in my basement.

When you go for a case, all you need to be concerned with are 3 things- looks, and quality of power supply, and cooling. With number 1 in mind, I'm thinking of a completely clear, acrylic case, pimped out with more lights than you can shake a stick at, and an LCD clock in front for good measure. Not too shabby a case, can't find any good pics of it though. About $250 at a computer show.

My system-

DEC 400 watt power supply
Athlon XP 2200+ oc'd to 1.9ghz
MSI KT4 Ultra w/ RAID/Serial ATA
512mb PC3200 (400mhz) DDR
GeForce 4 TI4400, 128mb w/ TV in/out
40 gb 7200rpm Maxtor HD
10 gb 7200rpm Maxtor HD
80 gb 7200rpm IBM HD
Sony 2.4x DVD R/RW+
MSI Dragonwriter 48x16x48 CDRW
Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum
Creative Inspire 5.1 5300 Speakers
Dual Realtek Network Cards (My comp= household router)
MS natural and 5 button optical explorer mouse
