You remember the teaser from last year? Well, we’re doing it again! The 2017 Season Teaser will be released at 7PM Eastern Time on Tuesday, September 20th. So, set those calendar reminders (and for some of you, those alarm clocks) and keep an eye on the FIRST Facebook page. And once that teaser comes out, remember to share, share, share!

The teaser release, and the aftershow below, seem like they could be excellent excuses to get the team together to have a little party, watch, and get everyone excited for the upcoming season. Start planning for those fried pickle chips now!

Downloadable Content (DLC) Pack 1

Simultaneously with the release of the teaser, we will be releasing a set of digital goodies related to the upcoming season in the form of a DLC pack. You will be able to download the pack on the landing page for the teaser, the web address for which we will be publishing when the teaser is released.

I think there's a good chance you'll find the content interesting, useful, and maybe even fun. Just like the DLC packs available for many videogames, this is intended to enhance your experience. Unlike the DLC packs available for many videogames, however, this will be free! And, as our use of a pack number suggests, we will be releasing more of these over time.

Teaser Aftershow

After the 2017 Season Teaser and DLC Pack 1 are released, be sure to join the FIRST Robotics Competition community and our friends from the GameSense crew for the Teaser Aftershow! The show starts at 7:30PM Eastern Time and you can find out how to watch and participate here. Join the GameSense crew and special guests for a fun and lively discussion as they dissect what they saw and heard (or what they think they saw and heard), along with what it all means*.

One special guest currently scheduled to participate is FIRST Friend Emma Dumont. Emma is an FRC Alumna, current FRC Mentor, actress, dancer, model, violinist and roller derby player**. With her broad range of talents and passions, her perspective on the teaser is sure to be interesting.

This will be a show not to miss!

It's going to be another great season! I hope it’s not too early for goosebumps, because I’m getting them right now!

Probably the vector game logo files, and hopefully the game theme song so I can rip it to my YouTube channel in high quality.

We're getting the teaser nearly 4 weeks (24 days) earlier than last year and last year was very early for any game information to come out.

Not sure what's going to be in the DLC pack, they normally do a lot to prevent us from figuring out much about the game. I can't imagine the official logo will be included since that normally has the game piece or some part of the field in it (last year the tower windows are in the official logo).

If I remember correctly, the tower popped out between the "FIRST" and the flag at kickoff, giving a last-minute clue.

At that point, game hints are not as valuable as something that would be present in a teaser. The Stronghold teaser showed several images of towers, but nothing too similar to the actual tower. I think they emphasized flags much more to possibly push people towards a CTF type of game. This is what I would be expecting from next week's teaser.

Which is why I said the official logo won't be released with the teaser. We might get a portion but it likely won't be the actual game logo.

Honestly though, having a cave would be one of the greatest places to build a robot. There's already lack of light and lots of floor space! Well, if you have a good cave sponsor, that is.

We had a code-cave, a few years ago. Programmers went in, but not much code came out until we ran a long Ethernet cable to reach the robot.

After our shop was completely remodeled, we lost the code-cave. But, now we can see our programmers. They actually touch the robot, and not just to plug in! Some of them even drive! I don't ever want them going back in a cave again.
