A Generic Robot Simulator

Hi All,

In the past few days we've been checking out several options for a robot simulator, but we didn't find anything that met our needs.

We're not looking for a specific game simulator. What we want is a mechanism which can load our software and our CAD model (never mind the format, we'll work around it) and run it in a pretty accurate physical simulation.

We want both the input sensors (microswitches, gyros and more) and output mechanisms (engines, mostly) to integrate. We assume there must be some big-time simulator used in the industry.

Do any of you use a simulator for testing your code? If so, we'd love to hear all about it (even if it doesn't really supply all of the needs specified above).

Many thanks,
Itamar
