Hawaii will most definitely fill up.
With a great number of teams west of Hawaii from Asia, many international teams end up signing up to attend. .

I am not sure how many extra will sign up this year from Asia, with China getting it's own regional and two Australian regionals the options for the Asian teams did increase a lot this year.

Las Vegas is looking to be very competitive. So far we have 148, 118, 842, and (assumed) 987. Looks exciting!

:EDIT: And also 1538!

Man lots of veteran Florida teams are choosing to go out of state as opposed to running back to back regionals.

I'm excited to see you guys, as well as several other veteran Florida teams at the Smoky Mountains Regional. Unfortunately, it looks like Tennessee's oldest team, 547, is only registered for Rocket City. (I can't blame them, Rocket City is much closer for them than SMR.) But it was very exciting to see some new faces at 2016 SMR, and it looks like we'll see some more this year.

Unofficially, the no. of Australia teams will grow tremendously in the next few years and some of the groups in China have mentioned a goal of 400 teams in the next few years. If there is a country that can do it, China certainly can and will with govt. support.
I would predict that a good no. of teams will still want to come to the Hawaii event.

Midwest looks amazing as well; 16, 111, 1511, 1592, 1986, 2338, 2451. Plus I imagine some more teams may go in as a third event (1625 has been to every Midwest Regional)

Did anybody take a peek at Hub City. Plenty of room still to join that party.

I think you will see some of the Texas regulars add it as their 3rd event.

Last year it was our first and only event, and nearly everyone else had already played once or twice. This year we are signed up for two regionals for the first time ever (OKC and Dallas).

2800 teams have been registered for events now.
About 60 teams just today.

Re: Registration 2017

The FIRST team database is acting a bit wacky this morning, so today's results will be spotty.
It recognizes a query session for only 8 seconds total, so if you try to flip through a list of teams you have 8 seconds to reach the end of it.

That's probably going to impact Aren's event summary updates.

P.S.
Seems fine now. I wonder f it was related to the DOS attack yesterday on the server farm in NH.

Huh?

The Midwest regional celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. 1625 were rookies in 2005, and didn't attend Midwest until 2007.

Re: Registration 2017

Current counts:
  • 2838 teams
  • 16 resurrected vets (longest missing is from Ontario and last played 10 yrs ago)
  • 12 new vets
  • 222 rookie teams
  • 2587 continuing teams
  • (543 missing vets, a bit more than 17%)
  • 21 Countries

Vietnam and Malaysia now have teams.

Countries with FRC teams last season, but still missing for 2017 are:
Poland, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Denmark, Ecuador, Japan
Also Israel, but Israel hasn't opened their district registration yet.

Re: Registration 2017

I worry a bit about what looks like "loosing" twice as many teams as rookies/resurrected teams coming in. This is not explosive growth.
